I'm interested in applying to the FHP, and I'm wondering why there is a negative opinion about the academy amongst some people here. After watching documentary-style videos of many police academies (FL, TN, AZ, TX, etc.), they all look exactly the same to me; it looks like every academy essentially does the same stuff. What makes the FHP academy so bad?

Here's a link to the first part of a ten-part documentary about the FHP academy, released in 2014. It features a few staff and a few recruits. Has anything changed for the worse since this documentary was filmed?

Is it true that 24 crossovers started the academy this week? That must be the biggest class I’ve heard of. What has changed to cause this?
