    Analyst jobs

Looking at an Analyst job at FDLE and wondering how the climate is there right now? Everything I've heard is that FDLE rules over its employee's with a heavy hand and that the leadership rules by threats and pointing at people they've ran out as an example to keep others "in line". Is this true of all regional offices? Or are some worse than others?

FDLE is a very easy place to work.... especially in the non-sworn component. All these negative comments you read here are mainly from the malcontents who want to blame everyone but themselves for their lack of career progress or having been disciplined for their own actions.

Our sworn section is mainly suffering from lack of experience and quality hiring thanks to 15 years of stagnating salaries. Read a lot of the post here and you will clearly understand what I’m saying and what our agency is been forced to hire.

Those malcontents are vocal for a reason... just remember that.

On to your questions. A lot of your experience at FDLE will depend on what region you are in. If you are hearing this, chances are your region is a “bad” one. You can come in and be fine at FDLE, but the question is when you see them mistreating others, targeting, running long term people off, etc, will you be able to stomach knowing that the people you work for have no conscience? It’s hard to look the other way, even when you dislike the person they are doing or have done it to. It takes your feeling to a whole other level and it’s not what you would expect from such a highly regarded Agency.

Also take into account that you will have low pay and can make this kind of money anywhere and not be pigeonholed into a low paid profession. The “cool job’ turns into being on call at all hours for no extra pay with no consideration for you or your kids because you are “lucky to be there”. You will be given the crap work along with any good work, and you’ll have no say or control over anything you may WANT to do or even if you specialize in something (such as computers) they may purposely assign you to do something else just to “put you in your place”. All that is true.

I’ve even seen where they assigned a Analyst Supervisor (non-sworn, mind you) to investigate a Special Agent! I couldn’t believe what I saw but had to keep my mouth shut. This Supervisor has a bigger ego than Donald Trump and they’ve pumped him/her up beyond anything you could imagine while trashing those he/she has decided needed to be trashed. It’s absurd how they have pumped this person up. They passed on more qualified people to put him/her there also, so don’t expect the most qualified to get the positions either. Politics are up front and in your face and hopefully you fit in.

This Agency and this position is not what it used to be. Proceed with caution and knowing that “anything goes”. You never know who is going to be running the place either. They can present as being caring and will always push the global message of being out for everyone and for raises, but you’ll quickly learn that this is usually not the case on personal level and personal treatment will vary tremendously.

Why anyone would want to be an Analyst at FDLE is beyond me. But good luck.

    Break down

MROC: no way! SAC and 90% of supervisors both sworn and non sworn are paranoid they don’t make any decisions. But on the flip side if you get investigated for road rage you are fine as precident has been set.

    FMROC: Good

    OROC: GREAT

    TBROC: GREAT.

JROC: as long as your asac doesn’t have to back you up, you are fine! Berk is usually upset he woke up that morning and MB is continuing to design his SAC office furniture while avaoiding Rusty.

TROC: God help you! Not enough oxygen for you and M Perez ego! He will screw over anyone to show how awesome he thinks he is. Wilmer is a sackless wonder who still is amazed he was promoted.

PROC: No support from SAC or ASAC at all. Both will cut you loose and think they are awesome. Think Perez x2

HQ: Just kill yourself. Within a year you will forget who you are and why you do this. Commish is In Cruise control and AC Cookie is jocking for position. Blood is in the water and a non loyal wanna be thinks she is the next commish. Anyone who can tell FDLE to F off by going to IIR and get hired back as an AC believes all is possible.

The whole agency is full of agents that have been conditioned to NEVER make an individual decision on ANYTHING. The current management has made it so they micro-manage on every level. If you want to be a confident, stand-alone Police Investigator, this is not the place to go. The only reason I could imagine anyone applying at FDLE is to run from problems from where they are coming from. What the actually get is out of the frying pan and into the fire.

As far as applying for analyst, the best advice would be to only do it if it's really what you want to do AND it's a short-term plan while you are taking college courses or planning for bigger things. If you really want to do 30 years in this shithole full white trash supervisors with ridiculous office politics and a who-knows-what Agenda that changes every few years, then perhaps you should be pursuing psychological help instead of the Analyst position.

All the regions have problems, including Ft. Myers, Orlando and Tampa. Don't kid yourself.

It you scratch the surface you'll see what's real.. morally empty leadership that smiles to your face while laughing at you or possibly scheming about you behind your back. You just don't know, but they thrive on the possibility that you may fear losing your job. Integrity and Respect do not apply to FDLE management, they promoted purely for power and ego and not to be real leaders that would stand for their employees.

Go somewhere you can at least make money and forget about this place, you'll be glad you did or it will only be a matter of time before you regret coming to FDLE (and it could take years and it may be too late to go somewhere else).

The difference between old leaders and the current leaders at FDLE is that previous leaders worked with their people and made them better, now the current guys only want people that fit their cookie cutter style and if they can't fit with their (the supervisors or managements) scheme of things, the will run you out by making you miserable.

And leadership starts from the top, and this is how things have been since RS was handed the position

Also, if you develop an illness, you will be ran out no matter how much time you have at FDLE. If all this sounds like what you want in a workplace for with low pay, go for it. But your dedication, loyalty, and integrity will not be matched by those in the high positions at FDLE.
