If McDonalds donated food to a large function, the deserve to be publicly recognized, but individual meals would be considered as graft per Ethics rules.

So "a large function" makes it legitimate? Please define what "a large function" is. If an entire squad is fed, is that large enough for you? Or do you want it broken down by sector to make it legitimate?

A gratuitous free meal is a public donation. Just ask the merchants who are donating it. Or do you need paperwork for a tax write-off to make it legitimate?

    • Corporation X gives a gratuitous 25 dollar gift certificate to Knight.
    • Corporation Y (McDonalds) gives a gratuitous burger at the drive-thru to a deputy.
    • Corporation Z gives a gratuitous raffle (lottery) ticket to Knight.

Which gratuitous public donation has more value to the hard working LEOs who work 24/7? Which gratuitous public donation has more value to the community? It all depends on who you ask.

Thumbs up Knight’s gratuitous “pay to play” scam

Knight has pushed beyond the normal boundaries of common sense into uncharted territories. That’s what it’s all about. It’s bizarre actions like these that force state legislators to create new laws, to prohibit such outlandish financial improprieties using taxpayer dollars. Advertising for all businesses (on government websites and properties) needs to be done on a fair and equitable basis that is statutorily governed – instead of governing it based on Knight’s personal whims.
Knight’s gratuitous “pay to play” scam needs to be addressed by the governor or the legislature.

Dude, you are 100% right, but these chuckleheads are to dumb to ever understand.

Take my advise, don't argue or try to explain it to these idiots. You're just wasting your time.

When and where does it stop statutorily?
Mixing taxpayer dollars with private corporations does not pass the smell test. Look at the fiasco of what is happening with the Sarasota County commissioners’ decision to do that:

It has led to a State investigation into ethics violations. An ethics investigation is fitting for Knight too.

That's a great idea. Once Knight is cleared, it should shut up the nutcases who are always criticizing him.

When is the appeals court going to clear up Knight's case here?:

Yes, an ethics investigation of Sheriff Tom Knight is appropriate. However, don’t look to Senator Greg Steube for straight answers because he is in bed with Sheriff Tom Knight with their “joint fiasco” against the 12th Judicial Circuit. The 2nd DCA should be ruling against Knight very soon.

Other representatives who are not in bed with Knight include the current House Speaker Richard Corcoran, along with State House Representative (and future House speaker) Chris Sprowls.

    People are watching. Stay safe.

Or if Florida’s state legislators decide to allow it, then it should be regulated by some sort of a bid process with regulatory oversight – to ensure that it’s fair – and to ensure that it prohibits using “sourced tax dollars” (indirectly) for a sheriff’s advertising-campaign. Mixing tax dollars with promoting private businesses creates ethics issues. Just ask all the businesses that are NOT being promoted by Knight on the Sarasota Sheriff’s Office website.
