Enjoy that PAT while you can. Pasco had that one up until 3 or 4 years ago, and we went to the older one that was used many years ago. The new/"older" one consists of sitting in a patrol car, hands on the wheel, getting keys out of a glove box, getting your gun and flashlight out of the trunk (because they want to keep things real..SMH), running the equivalent of a half a track lap, vaulting over some low obstacles, a serpentine through some cones, a low crawl, a dummy/sled drag (weight is about 130 lbs), then back through the whole thing in reverse including fry firing a revolver in right and left hands (another completely realistic bunch of nonsense....) Time stops when you put your hands on the steering wheel and fasten your seat belt. The older guys who have bad backs from years of sitting in a green and white with a gun belt, bad knees from foot pursuits and just years of use, have a tough time with some of the moves. The cutoff to run the whole thing is around 6:04 (not exactly sure). Any longer than that and you're on light duty, have to remediate, and if you can't do it within the allotted time after that, you're hitting the bricks...regardless of how much time you've put into the agency, regardless of all the arrests you've made over the years, and regardless if you were one of the loyal people who stayed with the agency through thick and thin and didn't jump ship to Pinellas or TPD.
The PAT you guys do is a lot better for the older guys, as most of them could finish it well under the allotted times. You'd have to be a real sack of potatoes to not be able to complete the minimum standards on that one. The older and less in shape guys are being canned like flies in Pasco thanks to the new standards, that give ZERO concessions for age, years of service, etc.
The grass is not greener.

Its true I heard many are failing the sit-ups test. Both for Deputy and Detention deputy, 33 sit-ups in 1 min is no joke apparently.

Be careful what you wish for as folks get older it becomes harder and the current retirement age a lot of folks might not make it that long

Given the current staffing shortage due to SRO state requirements in part, a tougher PAT test which will kick more people out is a bad idea. Bob had better have a lot of fit applicants in the pipeline to replace them. BTW, jail OT is already exploding and 4 hour mandatories increasing. Good luck with it but it will just make the existing staffing problem worse.
