Sarasota Herald-Tribune is dying a slow agonizing financial death

The H-T is hemorrhaging financially, along with her parent company (the NYT). Paper advertising is drying up and is moving online. Print/Paper B&M news is dying, just like retail B&M is dying. They are competing against "instantaneous internet coverage" of news, texts and tweets on iPhones, androids and laptops.

    • First came the NYT parent company layoffs in New York.
    • Second came the downsizing at the Sarasota H-T (moving out of their big building).
    • Third will be layoffs in the Sarasota H-T (2 to 3 years out, if not sooner).

The Sarasota H-T is now asking for "donations" in their online platform to keep it in business. It's a sign of the Times.

The NYT sold all of their regional newspapers several years ago. The H-T hasn't been under that influence in a long time. That being said, I believe that you are right. It'll be gone in 5 years.

The online platform is changing the world, from B&M media coverage to B&M retail shopping. Here is a question for you:

Which will be the first to implode financially:
    • B&M UTC?
    • B&M H-T?

Both UTC and the H-T are being replaced with the experience, convenience, efficiency and cost-effectiveness of online reading and online shopping. UTC stores can't make it financially.

Lightbulb Prediction: UTC will go bankrupt before H-T

UTC will go bankrupt before the H-T. UTC management does an outstanding job of effectively covering-up all the empty storefronts with artistic paintings, advertisements and drawings. If you're not looking, then you won't notice all the empty storefronts that are covered-up. It would be interesting to do a walk through of UTC and actually count all the empty storefronts (that are covered-up with artistic coverings). If you do that, then the mall is practically empty and is probably only about 60% filled. That's not a good sign for a mall that is only a couple of years old.

You've managed to squeeze H-T and UTC mall into the same conversation. Now it's time to squeeze Randy Benderson and Tom Knight into the thread. Ouch! LOL

Randy Benderson (the creator of UTC) is financially in bed with the local GOP AND with Tom Knight. And now word will get back to Benderson (and Eric Robinson at the Sarasota GOP) that Knight's deputies are:
    - discussing this UTC information, which is supposed to be kept secret from the public
    - and Knight can't do a f**king thing about it because he's busy twerking for the Sarasota BOCC

The cat's out of the bag and the media got a hold of the secret information. It will be in the news shortly. Knight is only indirectly e.g. these corporate fat cats have been supporting his campaign treasury. The same monies that flooded into Knight's campaign treasury are from the same corporate sources e.g. they are all INDIRECTLY CONNECTED to each other. The corporate cronies that are involved in the Benderson Park fiasco are the same corporate crooks that financed both of Knight's elections. Knight is the tip of their spear and he must do what they ask.

This is a completely separate issue from Knight's defiance of the Chief Judge of the 12th Judicial Circuit.

    Web id Deception

This type of scenario is exactly what sent Bybee up the river. Who will the next knightmare victim be? Hope no one has had negative experience with Benderson conglomerate and goes to the media. Knightmare and hoff will go after you just like they did Bybee and you will be sharing a cell with Bybee.

Just remain honest and stay out of the politics and stay out of Knight's cross-hairs -- and you'll be fine.

These deceitful underhanded corporate practices have nothing to do with low ranking Sarasota deputies. However, the deceitful corporate-controlling politicians were the ones who funded Knight's campaign treasury. As a result, Knight can do NOTHING to investigate this mess. The deceitful "corporate connections" have now reached the attention of the Florida legislature.

Many people are now aware of the weird politics that are happening in Sarasota County. Just look at the case between "Knight v. 12th Judicial Circuit" at:
    https://www.scribd.com/document/355181357/TK-Rotisserie

Many citizens, judges and some news reporters are now privy to the deceitful shenanigans involving (1) Sheriff Tom Knight, (2) Colonel Kurt Hoffman, and (3) Senator Greg Steube -- where they tried to change the law, in order to pull the legal rug out from the feet of Chief Judge Charles Williams.

///NAME EDITED/// said, "I'm from Chicago, but I've never seen dirtier politics than in southwest Florida. This place is the worst." He hit the nail on the head. This place is dirty. However, proving it is another matter. However, when Knight, Hoffman and Steube tried to jack-up the chief judge, it got the attention of a LOT of judges and politicians who have their own political connections. Politics is not a one-way street!

Journalism can never be silent: that is its greatest virtue and its greatest fault. It must speak, and speak immediately, while the echoes of wonder, the claims of triumph and the signs of horror are still in the air.
