We get LOTS of applications mainly from retired Leo’s, so if you weren’t chosen it’s not that you weren’t qualified or wouldn’t be a good fit, it’s just hard to pick one out of many.

No sir, I don't, it was great interview experience. Thanks for the encouragement. I am a combat veteran and had 20 years as a Deputy Sheriff before going to IG. But that doesn't mean I can't learn more, there are a lot of different jobs in the LE community. I'll try again if a position in the Gainesville Office posts again. Thanks again!

15 VP points up front for certain vets. That is almost insurmountable. Add on college degree points plus LEO experience points? Forget it. What is nice though is for the most part we are no longer getting these little wet behind the ears straight outta the academy types with ZERO LE experience.

I'll be short and to the point...................Looking back on my 30-years of employment with ABT I can say with absolute certainty, this was the best job in the world. You're pretty much your own boss as long as you're not a slug and you give the State a reasonable shot at doing your job. You have assignments, so make your own schedule. If you anticipate 3-hrs working a gambling case at night then don't go into the office (or work) until 11:00 am. If you already have 8-hrs OT then don't go in at all. I use the term OT, however, there is no overtime. You give the state `160 hours in a 28 day work period any way that conforms to what you need to do assignment wise. Where else in law enforcement does your employer pay all your expenses, including drinking alcoholic beverages during the course of an investigation. policy is: ( 3-drinks partially consumed) per location (ha ha) but in my 30-years I know of no problems with this policy or abuse. You get a state assigned vehicle, state credit card for gas purchases and purchase orders for minor or major repairs. You also take that vehicle home at night in case you might be called out. In 30 years I was called out perhaps 4-times! Yeah, during special events (speedway races, bike week in Daytona, Spring break etc you're going to work extra hours which perhaps will amount to 10 / 12 hrs but big deal, in most cases you're having fun and take the comp hours off later. That's my 30 years work related opinion of ABT and as I said earlier..............best job in the state..
