PBA voted out

81-40 , the Sgt’s and Officers of the Sarasota Police Department overwhelming voted the International Union of Police Association as their new collective bargaining agent. This was a tremendous blow to the local PBA leadership. Resoundingly the membership sent a clear message that they are tired of the PBA acting like a paper tiger. The final straw which most likely made officers change unions may have been the recent removal of 2 man cars in high crime areas by the city which violated the collective bargaining contract. The PBA simply chose not to even file a grievance. Good luck to the police officers of Sarasota who selfishly risk their lives to protect ours.

To the 40 that voted for the PBA to remain: You heard a lot of information from the PBA that has now been proven to be false. You were lied to when told that if you switch unions, the contract would start from scratch, lied to about legal coverage, lied to about why the PBA refused to file a grievance for the loss of 2 man cars which was in the contract and so much more. You have to ask yourself. Did I get the wrong info due to people not knowing what the hell they were doing all these years or die the lie to us on purpose? Was it more important to lie to us in order to keep their personal money coming in from the PBA? It really does make you wonder. We ALL need to drop the PBA and send a clear message.
