Don't Be fooled HCSO does not respect or care for their own!

Ex- HCSO Sgt. Perry Short Jr. passed away in Tenn. and how many of his HCSO employee "brothers and sisters" showed up to his wake to support his parents and children? Surprisingly only one currently employeed deputy made the short trip to Punta Gorda, even though the family completely supports HCSO to the point of asking for donations to the Hendry County Sheriff's Office Explorer Post in lue of flowers.

Who was that lone officer? It wasn't the sheriff, the chief, or even the PIO in charge of the Explorer Post even though they were invited. But hey it's understandable, right? Punta Gorda is a long drive and who wants to take a couple hours out of their Sunday afternoon? Perhaps if the media was invited they would have been there, Appearance is everything, public opinion matters, No one to impress there and no cameras, darn.

Don't worry though the family did receive the support of several ex-employees (the so called traders were the only ones with the honor to uphold the blue line)

Condolences for your loss. If he was an "ex", he retired, he served and moved on. It is not fair to blame The Sheriff or any administration to visit is not reflection on anyone. Understandably youre upset but is it fair to blame The Sheriff or the Chief or the PIO? The department is under attack in media and politically maybe out of respect they kept away. That shows honor, doesnt it?

Pretty disillusioning to realize the "blue line" is a fable at a time like this isn't it?

Why is this post slamming the Sheriff or anyone for that matter? Whose agenda would it have served if the Sheriff or any other administration attended? How many years did he leave the department? Did many today know him?

    gone....but not forgotten

Man, I didn't know that Perry passed away. I have fond memories working with him. Heck, his motto was use your time cause you aibt getting it for free. In peace he may rest.

I also miss my friend Sgt. Green. I know he aint dead, but, today I found out that he resigned. He is a good friend, and though we never had the chance to hang out at work.............Im sorry. I cant believe he's no longer with the SO. Over the last year, several good friends have left. Yes, to better places, but you miss the comraderie, the laughter, jokes, knowing that the person that has your back has it not because they have to have it. No, because they want to and wouldnt have it any other way. From a serious domestic to a bull shit information. It feels like a funeral for me because when I work the gardens or stay late, i know he wont be there. Your a good man Cliff. Wish you the best where ever you go!

Of course why are you so shocked. If EX-Sheriff Dyess Jr passed, it would be honor guard escorts and the whole admin would be front row. Never mind his history and conviction, he can still get a few votes. They couldnt raise a finger for this Sgt.

Many friends have left, and are doing well. I do miss the fun too. It is a different feeling now and all the mass leaving can probably traced back to a certain time period or reason. The admin doesnt care though.

Theres always a reason. Most of those who left were not with the program insubordinate and were not loyal they get what they deserve.

    Dont take yourself so seriously

Before pointing the finger at the agency why dont you see how other agencies would have done then post calling out every agency by name who would have done the same way.
