TALLAHASSEE — Florida’s pension fund is putting pressure on lawmakers, as they craft a state budget to keep the FRS pension fund solvent.

Government agencies will have to increase their contributions, to make sure there is enough money to pay retirement benefits. Counties will have to come up with additional money to cover their workers.

Paid retirement benefits are for county employees, school teachers and state workers. County workers make up 23 percent of 630,000 active workers covered by the pension fund.
