    Reserve Program?

Can you guys shed any light on the Reserve Program? Ability to work details? Any chance at solo patrol if your fully certified?

Actually, we technically have three different types of Reserves.. R1's, R2's, and R3's. R1's are fully sworn and must go through all of the fto training that a full timer goes through. (Most are retired HCSO Deps, with the exception of a a few R2's who they let go to the R1's after field training. This had not been done in like 20 years, and at least a few of them were well connected.) So it would be tough (Not impossible) for you to just walk into an R1 position.. R1's can preety much do whatever a full timer can do, except collect an HCSO paycheck..R1's can even sign up for off duty work on their own.. (72 hours a month.) R2's (Not technically sworn) can walk in, go through training, and if you are trusted, you could ride solo.. You can also get off duty work, but you are very limited as to how much, and where you can work.. R3's hold a leo certificate through the office (Example- HCFR Arson Investigators), but are not allowed to work OD through the SO.. R1's and R2's must do a minimum of 20 hrs a month volunteer.. By the way, our new Sheriff (Chronister) is very friendly to Reserves.. (Not that Sheriff Gee wasn't freindly, but they did get the sense that they were not really appreciated...) I hope this helps, OP..
