Hcso lost cause
A few of us mentioned moral issues due to being so short handed on patrol to some of the upper staff. Not to mention the havoc that getting rid of 2nd shift has caused like getting dispatched to lengthy investigations 20 min before the shift is up after working almost and entire 12 hour shift. It is extremely draining especially on that third sunday of the long week. 36 hour weekend also a 64 hour week. Mid level staff jumped in and made it sound like their was no issue and we could handle it. Ofcourse because they have no balls. We were blown off. No one gave a damn. We do no proactive police work anymore and dont even have enough people to even be reactive anymore. Is their anyone we can report this to? OSHA? I seen more people resign this past few years than ever before. I have only been here 6 years and even I can see how fast things are falling apart.

It would suck if your squad caught the blue flu, not the entire squad of course, but even if only 2 or 3 zone deputies catch a flu at one time... While already being short handed, and while other zone deputies are already out for pre-approved specialized training, and while others are at in-service, and while others are taking their mandatory time off (use it or lose it, cant bank anymore than 336 vacation hours), and while others are out on FMLA, and while others are getting suspended/fired, etc., it will quickly open the eyes of mid level supervisors when the platoon has 4 zone deputies to write all the reports... and answer all of the non law enforcement calls required to make people approve of our boss.
By the way, we are on pace to answer JUST UNDER 1,000,000 calls for service this year. If zone deputies have to answer 1,000,000 calls for service next year, with our current number of zone deputies (no one else answers calls for service), then we might not have time to write criminal reports anymore.
1,000,000 calls for service divided by the average number of zone deputies that show up for work each day... How many seconds can be spent on each call, to fit in 1,000,000 calls for service? When will deputies stand up for themselves? Maybe in a few years when there are 1,200,000 calls for service....NAAAHHHHH, deputies wont stand up for themselves then either, AND THE BRASS KNOWS IT!

I personally was never a big fan of the union but I ve been hearing more n more chatter from my zone partners that they would favor its return. Things are that bad when you start to hear that kind of talk n the command staff has no clue how bad morale is. Just look at the recent discipline cases that have popped up from the patrol colonel. Absolutely ridiculous with the way that man hands out suspensions.

The office knows that there is a morale problem, but they may not realize just how bad it has gotten. What staff does know is that they are afraid the environment is ripe for another union forming. If there was ever a time, that time is now before the next general election. The new Sheriff might be a great guy (or he might not), but he is not going to magically fix the staffing problems in the next year. He also might not be the Sheriff come the election. Manpower isn't the only problem we have. We have brutal, but inconsistent discipline, no path for advancement, an impossible workload, and the list goes on. Talk to your fellow deputies. Get the word out. Start building that support up. Watch your back because the office will destroy you if they catch you doing it. The office didn't give a damn even when its behavior was ruled illegal by PERC.

What should everyone do about it? Besides just complaining on the internet?

We had a union many years ago. David and Joey got a few young deputies to go out collecting signatures convening others no union was better. Once they got over 50 percent the union was done. Now, the union did have poor leadership. But you do not shoot that horse, you fix the problem. But that is old news. Those young Deputies were all promoted. I know most of them. Some of them are nice people, but looking out for number one.
HCSO feels like the White House of today. I am hopping Chad will put all in order for a better place. Chad is a good person.
But, he cannot control everything. We will see. It is not longer my problem.

I knew Chas when he was a young deputy/detective
Hard worker who could be counted on to do the right thing
Unfortuneatly he has changed n not for the good
Go look at what he has done to hsd as the colonel
Its a disaster with what s going on over there
Look at the yes men he put in to run the units
Scarey stuff whats going on and now its coming to the whole agency
Never trust a man who hangs w media like he does
Russell rhoades n him are unseperable

He just appointed someone who has never worked a pod, and and worked a zone, to Colonel. What does that tell you?

Business men, poor ones at that with and old outdated managing mentality, lawyers, accountants, and politicians are running this place. The upper admin is beyond disconnected from the front lines. So much for working our way up the ranks bringing our experience to make things better. They use these high ranking office pencil pushing positions as political rewards to connected people so these guys can get a fat pay checks, benifits, and free insurance after retirement. Like when they are promoted to colonel for a day on the last day of retirement. When its time for s sacrificial goat, they use a front line dep det or front line supervisor. Clever huh

Wrong
The two that were promoted to Colonel for a day were simply honorary titles. They did not get the paychecks of a Colonel nor did they receive the free healthcare. Check facts before posting because you are very wrong.
