Sheriff asked for funding for 3% COLA, but the commission didn’t fund it. He asked for something like a 7.5% budget increase not counting courthouse increased staffing. They gave him only a 5.6% increase, so not funded at 3%. Most of that increase went to hiring new deputies (including new spots in THI and regional motors and ICAC) and 23 new firefighters (!!!). Wish they did fund 3%, but they didn’t. Did any of you read the Sentinel stories about the budget hearings? Sentinel was pretty detailed on what happened.

For a single HMO its about $ 7 bucks a month so about 84.00 bucks for the year. It’s not much but better than an increase.

Any word on negotiations or a date we can attend one? I heard we might be offered 2.5% plus 1% extra in first responder pay.
