All this back and forth about LEO and PO is plain dumb! Neither is a great job if you step back and really look at it objectively. Graduated high school or maybe not and got a GED, don't know what to do, too dumb for the military, and to lazy for lawn care; go to the police academy. Likewise, go to college, maybe go in the military as an Officer, too lazy for lawn care, go to the PO academy. Both are just cows on the farmer's payroll!!

I once heard someone say that a Probation Officer carrying a gun is a lot like a septic tank repairman carrying a blowtorch.

And think about this. Over 3/4 of the Probation Officers do not carry a firearm. Hell, you don't even have to qualify with a firearm at their academy. Now how the hell can you be a LEO when you don't carry a firearm? I think the mall security is better trained.

Old thread but I was browsing the forums and saw this and had to reply. I'm a CO doing crossover training for LEO and I think it shouldn't matter what you are. At the end of the day we are all public servants and stuff like this is an eyesore to anyone with even a semblance of respect for the agency they work for or to anyone in the public who reads this. Everyone here talking trash should be ashamed of themselves. You are supposed to conduct yourself in a disciplined manner at all times with any FDLE certified job. Everyone talking trash here has obviously failed to show discipline and it's sad. This kind of stuff is what helps give FDOC and florida LEO agencies a bad rap. This whole thread is one big embarrassment to Florida leo/corrections as a whole. Maybe think about what you say or type before you make an ass out of yourself. Again old thread, but this had to be said.

No, FDOC has a bad "RAP" because the leadership sucks and many of the officers are down right lazy. But hey, you have shown us all that you are able to suck up...

Leadership has turned officer's lazy. Hell you have Specialists sitting at desk working COPS investigations and Sups figuring out how not to arrest people. This has made us lazy. We do nothing of any importance. When FDLE asked for our help in a Gang operation and we told them no because we don't want that look. That should answer your question. When we look for reasons to keep offender's out of jail instead of just enforcing the conditions as they are, this has made us lazy. When RD Mike Anderson tells us to let a CC case out of residence go because the offender was probably just eating dinner with his family, this makes us lazy. Every single one of them should be fired. All of them will give you an excuse that they were following orders---not good enough, you gotta go.

"They were following orders." That's what they said at Nuremburg. I agree, the offenders have never bothered me, but the "leadership" is horrible. Majority haven't had a caseload ever or haven't had one in 20 years. We are top heavy, way underpaid and bogged down with ridiculous screens to complete like the isp, etc...
