    Its good to be Tiger

If Tiger is allowed to plea to reckless driving after that video, perhaps you guys should discontinue that "Drive Buzzed, go to jail" PSA. Maybe just amend it to unless you are a VIP or celebrity.

You win the prize for "most ignorant post on LEOAffairs" (which is no small task, so congratulations!)

    1. He went to jail that night, like every other DUI arrest
    2. The diversion program he entered is the standard offer from the Palm Beach County State Attorney's Office for first-time DUIs. If you have a first-time DUI in that county, you get offered that program---wouldn't have mattered if he was a celebrity or homeless.

So why plea to reckless driving if its a diversion program? Perhaps DUI for any arrest is for DUI plea or go to trial. Hard to stop DUI if your first one is a freebee as you claim

It's not a claim, it's a fact. Fhp did its job. If you don't like the results, you should contact the local state's attorney office. They offer the diversion program, not fhp.

It's actually tougher than Orange County's (which the State Attorney based the program on) First time DUIs plead to reckless, go through DUI school, community service, fine, victim impact panel, etc. But if you mess up within one year, then the offer is revoked and the DUI is prosecuted as normal.

(BTW, in Orange County, after one year, the entire case is nolle prossed and the violator doesn't even have to please to reckless)

FHP had nothing to do with this case. The arrest was made by the Jupiter Police Department.

We, FHP, have botched numerous high profile DUI cases in the South Florida area.

Does anyone remember the FHP DUI arrest of one of its own on A1A in Boca Raton, around 2005 or 2006? Arresting Trooper claimed he stopped the driver for one violation, when indeed that violation never occurred, or could not have occurred on that roadway. Trooper wrote that in his report but testified to something else.

The defendant (Trooper on leave) had patrolled that area numerous times, made several stops there, and testified the reason for the stop was bogus. Even though he turned out to be DUI. Case was eventually dismissed but he did serve a suspension.

I've been in Troop L for 14 years and have never heard of what you are talking about. For the last 5 years I've spent most of my time working the south end of Palm Beach Co which includes Boca Raton and Delray Beach; still have no idea what you're talking about.
