    Vote NO on 1 %

Please, everyone, do not vote yes for this lame 1 percent payout that the city is offering us. It will add up to a couple hundred bucks, and will hurt you all more in the long run. Do not be intimidated by anyone trying to sway your vote, to lessen the workload on them. There was a time, when we used to fight tooth and nail to get a decent contract. It stopped in 2012 for some reason.

And, if you have less than 5 years on, please, find another job at a place where the bosses care for you. The city has been raping our benefits for 15 years now. If you aren't vested, there is a very good chance that you will have a 401k by the time you are vested. You will get ZERO cola raises post retirement, until age 65, when you will get a whopping 1 percent.

Be smart, and start over while you are young, and still have time to do it.

Anyone who is hired onto a Florida S/O after 2011 gets a zero percent COLA at retirement -- forever. The only exception is the Jacksonville SO/PD. Their new-hires are no longer eligible for a pension. They are automatically put into a 401k plan:
