A discussion of who the best and worst command staff members are is actually more appropriate because their names and photos are already publicly posted on the SSO website.

DB? Agree 100%. As to the worst, NW. Hands down. He sets the rust-standard. Not even a close 2nd. God forbid when be gets promoted. If he does.

Without a doubt the worst of the worst is NW. Rude, back stabbing, makes errors and blames others, two-faced, argumentative and plenty more adjectives. Even though he got some stupid mention in the Gold and Silver, or whatever the name of the knightmare's propaganda magazine is, he should NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, EVER get promoted. I'm surprised he was ever able to get off the desk.

Most people that are promoted including me would have to agree that NW is the perfect example of why the Promotion Process itself needs to be revamped. There are two side to the coin. Those that study and are deserved of promotion and those that study and perfect the process so well that no matter how they perform day to day, they have scored well enough to be promoted. We all know that NW is not a smart cop, but the Sheriff will promote him! Why... there is no reason other than the Sheriff is scared to get sued. The Sheriff should ask 10 deputies who have worked for NW if he should be promoted to LT. Then he should ask five people that have supervised NW if he should be promoted. Then he will have his answer. Dare you Sheriff. You won't like what you hear and the truth is painful to people sometimes.

    • If Knight is scared, then why did he recently defy the Chief Judge, under penalty of being arrested for contempt of court? Knight is not scared. Something else is going on.
    • If Knight is scared to get sued, then exactly why did he promote Kurt Hoffman, John Walsh, Kevin McElyea, Dan Tutko and others? Knight is not scared. Something else is going on.
    • If Knight is scared, then exactly why did he refuse to investigate his former buddy (Ron Locke) for pedophilia, after Locke got a 17 year old juvenile pregnant? Knight is not scared. Something else is going on.

Sometimes irrational people make irrational decisions for irrational reasons that have nothing to do with fear. For example, do you remember the last time you arrested someone for disorderly conduct? Were they scared of being arrested? Nope! They were angry and pissed off and they were emotionally out-of-control, which is exactly why you arrested them. As a classic example, Knight has been previously arrested for disorderly conduct. He was not scared of being arrested for disorderly conduct, which is why VPD officers arrested him for disorderly conduct as a last resort. We only arrest people for disorderly conduct as a "last resort," when we cannot control a situation by any normal means. There are other issues going on in Knight's head that have nothing to do with logic. Knight is not scared, but maybe he should be, as is evidenced by his publicized defiance of authority.
A good cop never gets wet, cold or hungry.

Did Mr. Knight promote you or are you a Balkwill holdover?

This is from first-hand knowledge: The thing that bothers Knight the most is negative media publicity because it gets under his skin (probably because he cannot control all of it). Getting sued brings negative publicity (and the public can read the lawsuits because it's public record, so Knight cannot hide it from public view). So does it cause Knight to be scared OR angry? Fear is a relative of anger (both are related to each other). He definitely has anger management issues and fear is hidden in the overt temper tantrums (which only SSO employees are exposed to). He never displays anger to the media (at least not at the time of this writing).
