    Wake up

The financial numbers are in. The Broward PBA has taken in half in dues in 2016 compared to 2015. However, the salaries remain the same at the PBA. Marano is still taking $54,000 from your dues while holding the title as the leader who lost BSO. Rod Skirvin took $13,000 in dues money as a salary. To do what we may never know. Ace lawyer Gonzalez who expects you to give up on your case gets $78,000. Staff is being let go and the smoke a the PBA is getting thicker. Hollywood negotiations are a mess and Pines is out of contract since 2015 but as long as the dues money keeps coming in and the leadership of the PBA gets paid, who cares right? How much money was wasted on billboards that only pissed off city officials in both Hollywood and Pines? What was the return on that investment? A personal grudge between the PBA and certain leaders was fueled and the only people who suffer from this petty personal battle is the everyday police officer. Keep paying the dues to stock the Downtown Cigar bar where Marano smokes for free and you must pay. Keep paying for the daily lunches at Slackers and Anthonys Pizza. Keep paying for the Lexus car leases for the staff. Keep paying for the golf course membership of Marano and the Boat club membership.

I woke up and smelled a rat

Thanks for all the misinformation Andy. Guess you didn't hear about negotiations today.

Here comes the PBA cheerleaders of Marano, Martin and Alfaro. The PBA used the same tactics at BSO. Deny everything, tell everyone IUPA is lying and hope to keep everyone in the dark. The problem is that the PBA is not sending ANYONE to IA with you, YOU are being used to support their financial blunders and the PBA will suddenly bring a worthless contract for a vote for their own viability, not for your best interest. The bottom line is the PBA has been negotiating for almost 2 years but now that IUPA is collecting PERC cards, they suddenly want to do something.

You're so interested to get into Pines that you've actually talked to a member or two? This is how I know you haven't:

The PBA sends an actual attorney with every Officer to any IA or AR. The relationship actually exists between IA and the PBA that the IA guys actually tell our officers when receiving their notices to make sure to contact the PBA.

Pines was under contract until October 2016. We signed a one year extension to the last contract that expired in 2015 where we were awarded a 2% raise for that year, as well as a few other monetary benefits. We signed that extension under the auspices that the City would be "in a better place this time next year". When that rolled around the City, unbeknownst to anyone, was preparing a 401 bombshell proposal all the while telling us our proposal numbers were being run.

It got dropped on us earlier this year and we've been busting our asses since then to fight it off. In four actual sessions, we've more than doubled the money we were initially offered, extended the DROP opportunity (which they were opposed to) and fought off the 401.

You're probably right though, it would be a great idea to completely shift gears and bring in a new bargaining agent, clearly this one is doing nothing. Just a heads up, what's really convincing when trying to obtain a new agency is sending anonymous emails THAT DON'T EVEN NAME YOUR ORGANIZATION. Tight work.

Did anyone see the new billboard sign outside the PBA building today? It was red, white, black, and said “For Sale”.

Yes, IA tells us to contact the PBA. An officer goes to the PBA but nobody from the PBA goes with you to the statement. Same scenario in Hallandale too. Just ask to see financials from the PBA. Why do they have a 1.4 million dollar mortgage? Who authorized Moran to raise his salary from 33,000 to 54,000 ? Who pays for the PBA slip at the boat club? Why do family members of the PBA use the PBA address for personal businesses? Which PBA checking account pays for the golf club membership for Marano? What happened to the Money raised for Brooks? The list goes on and on to include the PBA locker at the cigar bar in Ft Lauderdale that is open to all members but nobody knows about? The Broward PBA is a broken business at best with no credibility. They promised change before and lied, don't let the PBA fool you too Pines

So how muck Pembroke Pines membership input was solicited before placing the billboard in front of the mayors business? How much input did anyone from Pines get to have on endorsements? How many Pines officers were allowed to run against Morano? The answer to all is none! And who paid for Mariano's trip to New York recently? Oh yeah, our dues did. PBA income from 2015 to 2016 dropped from 10 million to 5 million state wide. What does that tell you about the finances and membership of the PBA

    The PBA attorneys attend statements.

Honestly, I'm still trying to figure out your platform. You running the anti-corruption thing now? Boat slips and gold clubs?
You didn't mention those things in your anonymous e-mail to our members. How did your day go this morning by the way, standing at the gates and flagging down guys driving in to work?

-The Pines members had zero input as it pertains to the billboard. That creates plausible deniability. There are no repercussions for our members that way. The City knows JM did it and it's worked out for us.

-Our members elect Representatives who participate on the screening committees. Should we have 2000 person screening committees consisting of every Union member for the purposes of endorsing candidates? You probably think you should get some say on the Health Care Bill that's getting ferried around DC.

-Marano's trip to NY where he represented our organization during the slain cop's funeral? Yeah, our dues did. Am I supposed to be ashamed of that?

Here's some (rhetorical) questions I have...

-Why did IUPA endorse a candidate running against a sitting Commissioner in Pines without even contacting that sitting Commissioner? Oh by the way, that Commissioner has been one of the PBA's strongest allies as it pertains to the awarding of benefits.

-Why does TA's secretary get sent to IA's to represent Deputies?

-How thrilled with IUPA's work were the two Pompano Deputies involved in that shooting?

-Why has the AFL-CIO President (who IUPA is a member of) made anti-police comments?

-Is it true that there's a push from other AFL-CIO organizations to boot IUPA from their ranks?

-Is it true that the AFL-CIO endorsed Hillary in the most recent Presidential Election?

Here's the cold, hard truth though. There aren't really a lot of difference between each Union. They all have their pro's and con's. We could go back and forth all day about the dumb shit each one has done or the great things they can do. The FOP and IUPA are only putting their toe in the water at Pines because they feel like this is their shot to suck up that dues money. If you really think they're in it for the greater good or to take care of cops, you're mistaken. The people at Pines who reach out to those organizations may be unhappy. Hell, they may even have reason to be. Those organizations are coming to that persons rescue tho. They're looking for that same dues money.

Currently the PBA at Pines have the best interest of their members, past, present and future at heart. They work tirelessly and make sacrifices to see that those members are taken care of. They have a long standing relationship with Commissioners and City Representatives and that pays off for the members in ways that they don't normally see or know about.

The thought of leaving a Union that has taken this shit sandwich offer and used the aforementioned relationships to craft something that is not only palatable but actually a solid win, is plain silly.

Sling your mud or do whatever you want, you can't detract from the results obtained. Go fish.
