    Wake up

The financial numbers are in. The Broward PBA has taken in half in dues in 2016 compared to 2015. However, the salaries remain the same at the PBA. Marano is still taking $54,000 from your dues while holding the title as the leader who lost BSO. Rod Skirvin took $13,000 in dues money as a salary. To do what we may never know. Ace lawyer Gonzalez who expects you to give up on your case gets $78,000. Staff is being let go and the smoke a the PBA is getting thicker. Hollywood negotiations are a mess and Pines is out of contract since 2015 but as long as the dues money keeps coming in and the leadership of the PBA gets paid, who cares right? How much money was wasted on billboards that only pissed off city officials in both Hollywood and Pines? What was the return on that investment? A personal grudge between the PBA and certain leaders was fueled and the only people who suffer from this petty personal battle is the everyday police officer. Keep paying the dues to stock the Downtown Cigar bar where Marano smokes for free and you must pay. Keep paying for the daily lunches at Slackers and Anthonys Pizza. Keep paying for the Lexus car leases for the staff. Keep paying for the golf course membership of Marano and the Boat club membership.

Thanks for all the misinformation Andy. Guess you didn't hear about negotiations today.

Here comes the PBA cheerleaders of Marano, Martin and Alfaro. The PBA used the same tactics at BSO. Deny everything, tell everyone IUPA is lying and hope to keep everyone in the dark. The problem is that the PBA is not sending ANYONE to IA with you, YOU are being used to support their financial blunders and the PBA will suddenly bring a worthless contract for a vote for their own viability, not for your best interest. The bottom line is the PBA has been negotiating for almost 2 years but now that IUPA is collecting PERC cards, they suddenly want to do something.

You're so interested to get into Pines that you've actually talked to a member or two? This is how I know you haven't:

The PBA sends an actual attorney with every Officer to any IA or AR. The relationship actually exists between IA and the PBA that the IA guys actually tell our officers when receiving their notices to make sure to contact the PBA.

Pines was under contract until October 2016. We signed a one year extension to the last contract that expired in 2015 where we were awarded a 2% raise for that year, as well as a few other monetary benefits. We signed that extension under the auspices that the City would be "in a better place this time next year". When that rolled around the City, unbeknownst to anyone, was preparing a 401 bombshell proposal all the while telling us our proposal numbers were being run.

It got dropped on us earlier this year and we've been busting our asses since then to fight it off. In four actual sessions, we've more than doubled the money we were initially offered, extended the DROP opportunity (which they were opposed to) and fought off the 401.

You're probably right though, it would be a great idea to completely shift gears and bring in a new bargaining agent, clearly this one is doing nothing. Just a heads up, what's really convincing when trying to obtain a new agency is sending anonymous emails THAT DON'T EVEN NAME YOUR ORGANIZATION. Tight work.
