The issue of annexation has bee reopened and there are a number of municipalities applying to expand their boundaries and incorporate county areas.
Depending on the areas that are allowed to be incorporated and lost to the county, these areas will serviced by the corresponding city police departments.
It will be increasingly more difficult to justify a huge agency when the area of responsibility diminishes.
The county in their part will look at the police salaries and cost of equipment saved as a means to invest more money into political Cash-Cow projects to get them re-elected.

So basically, every budget year we cut the vacancies from the payroll and make it look like we're at maximum staffing. Let's not forget the 600 positions he cut from MDPD when he first became mayor.

It used to be that the vacancies remained and the money for the positions were used for OT to supplement officers on the street.
