20 minute radio silence put us and the public at risk

We've complained about our radio system for years. Finally, at the most crucial time during Irma with lives at stake our radio system goes silent for 20 minutes putting everyone at risk. Where was the back up plan? None, silch, zero.
This disorganized Alpha/Bravo is Director Juan Perez's self made catastrophe. While he is out trying to bed new rookies and popping push ups in front of HQ our resources and logistical system is falling apart. Our department is being destroyed to the core with promotions and political assignments of zeroes the likes of Majors Dieppa, Glass and others. Meanwhile our bargaining unit remains silent on all of these issues. Today, they are all padding themselves on the back while grabbing breakfast at Sergio's. There is no hope for our department.

It is the fault of those in charge of the radio section. If they provide reports and make believe everything is and will be okay they are believed. No different than the nursing home in Hollywood assuring family members their loved ones were safe there during Hurricane Irma and they did not have to take out of there. Well we all know that outcome of that one.

They should have gotten a radio system like Hollywood's if they listen to theirs it is clear and a top digital system. I know the now retired officer who was in charge of getting their system and their new command center. He has a background in communications and knew what he was doing in order to get a good system.

Until one of us gets killed, nothing will be done. Not sure if you guys knew this but a School Board officer actually had a priority during that 20 minute outage. He pressed his emergency button however the distress signal wasn't received by dispatch for over 10 minutes.

The old Motorola system wasn't perfect, but it was much better than this current system.

I agree about the Motorola system. They are better. The decision was made to buy the system from Harris and Cooper General as it was to be an example for other agencies and came with a cheaper price tag.

    Radios down due to generators!

I have learned that the radio issue was due to generators going down. The department needs to look at the generators and replace them if necessary and/or regularly test and complete better preventative maintenance. It should be a priority.

only the digital system, which is what we use, was down. If you clicked over to analog you were fine.

Please!! The system failed and HQ caught fire. The CP relocated to a district while HQ is STILL not fully operational.

The Command Staff failed and they know it. At least Freddy & Ed were able to take a macho picture while standing in front of a helicopter in the Keys. THAT is what leadership is all about. Where were their Field Force uniforms?

These leaders of ours didn't even want to fill the traffic light generators with Gas if it went DOT which apparently closed after 5pm. They rather place and endanger officers at the traffic post unnecessarily but who cares we all POS if not those close doing jack nothing or sitting around at home or at restaurants getting OT without sweating a drop. If it weren't for the Agg guys taking it upon themselves to fill them up, LT RG you the reel deal kiddo! Next time you need to be in charge of the Show not that Clown E.G. Or his hypocrite Capt. Those 2 didn't leave their house or station just waited for food to come in and address the sheep. I heard they had dounuts yet relocated them to HQ not one left for the sheep. If not for one of the officers who went out of his way to feed uu nice those 2 did zilch. Thanks SG!

That CP was a joke and a fiasco! 6 LT's POS officer's doing things twice or three times each oblivious to what the other was doing or saying. No clue to what was going on or things to be done, by the way go pick up those hard to get Stop Signs before the Metal Guys pick them up for Scrap them "Clueless" CP "Come Pin-as".

It's embarrassing to work for morons like this!

    THanks Again Agg.
