A few thousand? $144,00 for Col? How about most of the capt's that drive to the station, watch tv and never return after lunch for $80,000? Yes, add it all together it would help out the guys that do the work! Our primary mission is to investigate car crashes! And, we don't even do that very well! The county I live in, the sheriff's office traffic unit blows FHP out of the water!

well $144,000 for a Director of a large scale agency is poor when Martin County Lts start at 90,459
A senior sergeant at Tampa Police Dept makes 94,328.00 and chief makes 170,000. Orlando police chief makes 180,000. So..... and this not even the higher paying agencies.

So a sergeant at Tampa makes more than our capt's? So why is any of us still with FHP? Again, the Col needs to address they pay quick like for ALL troopers, not just the ones that are the "specialty" or live in a certain county! All of FL isn't cheap to live anymore!

Why? It's better to keep hiring young bucks who want a gun and drive fast cars to make traffic stops. Then come five years the dumb ones promote and activity doesn't matter and the others leave. Then we investigate and fire the ones who stay because after five years your not worth anything. How much expierence do you need to work a long from?
As long as we keep pushing new guys out the door that's all that matters! And tickets, lots and lots of tickets!

5% pay raise is a joke and FHP is STILL ranked last in starting salaries for troopers.
This agency is only good for a stepping stone into other SO and PD agencies. Might as well use the FHP to get the police cert. paid, get the 2 years experience and leave.
