Two scenarios:

• If Mr. Knight refuses the chief judge’s order for a second time, then he will be arrested for contempt of court and he will be temporarily removed from office by Governor Scott – and it will be up to the governor to appoint an interim sheriff.

• If Mr. Knight is able to serve his full elected term, then Kurt Hoffman will try to run for sheriff.

Temporarily? With that kind of a contempt-arrest, there is no bond, so Knight will have to stay in jail until he either:
1. Obeys the court order
2. Or the governor permanently relieves Knight of being sheriff. If Knight is permanently relieved-of-duty, then he no longer has the legal authority to obey the court, so he would be released from jail.

Knight has a choice to obey the judge or go to jail. The choice is his. If he has half a brain, then he will obey the upcoming court order to avoid being arrested. However, strange things have been happening.

If (or actually when) Mr. Tom Knight loses his upcoming hostile court case against Chief Judge Charles Williams, then the local GOP may discretely ask Mr. Knight to step down (in the next upcoming election) to ensure that a competent candidate can fill the position of sheriff. Mr. Knight is burned political toast. Lastly, if the local GOP is fully appraised of Mr. Kurt Hoffman's extremely bizarre background, then it is highly unlikely that the GOP leadership will go out on a financial electoral limb for Mr. Hoffman. Mr. Knight will be out of office in the next term -- and Mr. Hoffman will be asked to leave (or fired) by the new sheriff.
