New Cameras
New camera system coming down, it's suppose to be the newest and greatest. $4,000,000 to equip every car from Lt. down. The system is supposed to be a completely wireless system with cloud based uploads. In addition, it's said to have three cameras. A front facing wide view camera, a rear facing camera that watches the driver and then a camera in the rear to watch the back seat. Talk was to also include a camera to watch out the back windows. This system will also run off cellular based system which will allow supervisors to activate and get live feed from their people at any time, even when not engaged in enforcement duties (I.e report writing). The system will directly tie into the GPS system and log location providing a overview map during chases etc. The system will include facial recognition that will allow analysis to compare databases if someone flees the scene or attacks a trooper.
Overall, the system is said to increase Officer Safety by allowing the agency to activate he camera and ensure troopers are ok in case of radio treoubles or during x46 traffic in case of fights or times when accurate communication can't be established. It has been said that supervisors won't just activate troopers interior camera for no reason and it's not intended to be used for discipline, comparable to when AVL was implemented. This system is solely based and selected for Officer safety and Public Safety. Set to go into effect by the end of the year with every marked, unmarked car rank LT down through investigators to Troopers.

I'm totally sure FHP will not use it to spy on troopers! We all know how AVL was used in so many officer safety situations and not to spy on troopers.

Why only Lt and below? Why not Col and below? Everyone with this agency gets a take home car and high risk retirement to do a dangerous job? Oh wait! That's right they drive to work and home and never stop for anything but yet make the $80,000 plus! Oh ok I understand now, their safety isn't important because they're not a real LEO.
