Why departments are switching to 9mm

The emerging story is that Eric Holder and Barack Obama forced James Comey to push the 9mm narrative. Holder and Obama wanted to give black thugs a better chance of surviving police shootings. Since most departments nationwide where transitioning to 40 & 45 calibers, they needed to push the 9mm agenda. Historically most departments follow what the FBI goes with. Liberal Comey jumped into bed with Obama and Holder and pushed the 9mm agenda. Comey transitioned all of his FBI agents back to 9mm's against senior agents recommendations after the infamous FBI Miami shootout years ago where several agents where killed in the line of duty.

TPD has a history of making bad decisions when it comes to firearms. TPD was full speed ahead for the S&W MP40 when others departments where getting rid of them because they were garbage. Now we are transitioning to the 9mm based on the advise of a failed president and attorney general in order to let some low life scumbags survive a police shooting.

PBA members need to wake Abe Carmack up and stop the 9mm transition. Abe Carmack needs to stop being a hack and represent the members.

Cool story bro. Modern high quality 9mm, .40, and .45 bonded hollow point handgun ammunition perform similarly. The three options create nearly indistinguishable wound channels. 9mm offers less recoil (faster accurate follow up shots), and more capacity. .40 and .45 might perform marginally better through intermediate barriers. They are all portable means of fighting to a proper gun.

Wanna be pissed that they picked the M&P and it turned out to be completely mediocre? Ok. That they now selected a striker fired Sig Pro? Fair enough. That Barack Obama used to be POTUS? Alright. But don't be pissed about the switch to 9mm just because of some conspiracy fairytale. The most important factor for handgun bullet effectiveness was, is, and probably always will be shot placement. More cops are going to be able to fire more rounds accurately on target. That's a good thing.

What is ACTUALLY concerning is the training unit insisting that cops who work in the real world adopt a competition style shooting grip. Maybe next year they'll touch on how you transition from that two handed grip to a one handed grip without moving your thumb and half of your palm on your strong hand when you have to suddenly stop a door from opening into you while you're clearing a building, or stop a screaming child from running between you and her daddy during a 73. Spoiler alert- you can't. But I guess if you fumble your gun you'll be all set to thumb a ride from a passing motorist and get the hell outta there.

Hogwash. 9mm is superior for many many reasons. Read the FBI study. Yes a 45 cal is 11.25 mm and is superior bullet for bullet if all things were equal (which they are not) A 40 is a 10 mm. But with bullet advancement, ability to give rapid accurate followup shots and more rounds 9mm is vastly superior. Lethality is based on many factors first is hitting vital organs. 9mm penetration is beyond excellent for this factor. Carry 124 grain plus p gold dot or 125 grain critical duty and wound ballistics rival a 45.
