    Impending Contract Vote

There are some things which are bothersome about this proposed contracts. Seems like smoke and mirrors to dangle career path increase and special pay and then say if the budget allows it. That gives them an out to say they don't have the money anytime they wants. They put the 10% increase in there to make it look better. But he already got us that increase so it doesn't matter if it's in the contract or not. It's there to fool the uninformed peeps to think it's a good contract.

The overtime issue is going to blow UP. We don't have money for OT as it stands. Now they will be able to make you go home early whenever they want. Doesn't matter if you worked your butt off on a case and had a 15 hour day. You could just be forced to go home early one day. No compensation for the OT busting your hump. The comp bank going away does help for the OT paid gigs but they could've fixed that in Kronos instead of making us max our bank first.

The BIGGEST thing I see is the time to go to class. This agency stopped giving a crap if people wanted to better themselves. You will no longer be allowed to take more than one class per year during a week you would normally work. Everything else will have to be annual leave. So, if you want to get any classes done for your career path, you better have 120 hours or so of leave you're prepared to use. If you want to better yourself and be a better deputy be prepared to burn leave.

DO NOT VOTE FOR THE CONTRACT IF YOU DONT LIKE EVEN ONE SMALL PART OF IT. Don't agree to the whole big thing just because they promised a small thing.

Looks like the vast majority of people that voted the contract. I bet the few that voted against it are the few FOP hacks that are still pissed that they got das boot. The above post was clearly written by a FOP member that is still butt hurt.
