Can we please go to Chevy Tahoes now
The NHTSA has an alert for exhaust leaks in new Ford Explorers, and we need co2 gauges now. Just one more stressful thing to worry about. These trucks have been a failure, always recalls and breaking down. Can we please join Hollywood, Davie ,Pembroke Pines and FHP and go with the Chevrolet Tahoes next time.
This is not a dig at Fleet or Administration, it's just a plea from the deputies that drive these vehicles for a living.
Thank you

Everybody knows and understands that the Chevy Tahoe is a much better vehicle. Unfortunately, the civilian population also knows this and buys the Tahoe, which drives the price up for Law Enforcement Agencies. By going to the cheaper, smaller, and less functional (the boxes are great but do not fit so they had to be raised which is not functional) Explorer they can purchase more. They also don't have to wait as long for the order to arrive from from Ford like they do with Chevrolet. But what they need to be looking at is how much time these NEW vehicles are spending in the shop.

There is not a single proven case that the explorer has an exhaust leak that would cause a recall. There is one case where a family claim's a death was related but nothing proven. Additionally, a few more agencies have made complaints too. BSO is putting co2 detectors in every car now as a safety for everyone. I applaud the agency for going above and beyond to protect everyone. Tahoes are just to expensive. Especially when most of the agency was *****ing 2 years ago about no new cars. Now you have them and *****, *****, *****.

This guy is why our agency is so bad
Anyone that knows anything about fleet vehicles knows that since Chevy dropped the substandard Caprice they poured all of their focus on an affordable Tahoe. They are in fact very affordable . Especially when you factor in all the lost patrol time for deputies spend off the road to bring on the Explorers for repair.

Another gripe with the Explorer - fuel efficiency! Holy cow, has the fuel bill gone up since we went to these things because they are horrible! 200 mile range on a full tank of gas is a joke.
