there is an old military saying that is quite appropriate in terms of this administration
Screw up (F**K up) Move up it is no more apparent than here.
I would be very careful being the cheerleader of this group, many of good officers have there backstabbing wounds to prove it. New chief gets to pick his admin. If they accepted an at will position it means just that at will... SU, fine confidential investigator for the commissioners, lots more stuff gong on in other departments to keep him busy. Nobody is judging them her SU and the rest of the admin got there jobs thru a$$ kissing and throwing others under the bus, they deserve no loyalty, Vespia did not create this mess all alone here.

Happens in the real world too, we call it the peter principle.. but that isnt the issue here. At least 4 experienced outsiders (Uebelacker, Pelfrey, Rose and Brown) were brought in to replace the last group vespia sacrificed to save his own backside (LTs). He flat Told me in the Commanders meeting that the CPSM recommendations were just that and he wasnt required to implement all. We funded it and he contorted it to his own way, he owns the outcome. The new Admin neither were or are the problem .. the Chief was and remains the responsible party.

Only SU and Rose were brought in, Brown was a patrolman already and pelfrey only came into the picture when asst chief sirianni had enough and retired. Unfortunately we disagree, simply put each and everyone mentioned was and in some part still are screw ups and in a real professionally run dept, would have been put out to pasture or still on midnights humping calls.

Whether you are a fan of Brown, Pelfrey, SU, and Rose doesn't matter. The ultimate responsibility sits squarely in the lap of KV. He made his bed then proceeded to $hit in it. Let's hope Pete Lear can look at this mess while interim and listen to the Commission, who hopefully speaks out and kicks KV to the curb -- and start an investigation that renders him unable to get another job where he can proceed to destroy the integrity of another department. It's a lot of "hoping" but it is what needs to happen.

Thanks Terry Lewis
Isn't it ironic? Terry Lewis's handpicked followers ( S. U. and K. V.) are now destroying each other - now leaving us with a former SCSO captain who retired after he was investigated and failed a fitness for duty evaluation. The only way to get a collection of administrators like this at one time in one place is through long-term gross incompetence.

It should not be overlooked that during Commission discussions about who should be the interim City Manager, Vanessa Carusone mentioned Terry Lewis. She said he's not here currently but he's always willing and ready (NOT verbatim). I wonder why he would be so willing and ready and I wonder why she would think it's a good idea to bring HIM back? She showed her old school / good ole boy mentality with this comment. We do not want Terry Lewis anywhere near NP or the NPPD. As far as the retired / not fit for duty captain - let's look for our leadership outside. Somebody who is not tainted by the culture that seems to exist in many agencies around here.

It shows just how inept we are as a city to always rely on the county for everything. VC (if she said that) is thinking lazy. Terry Lewis? Really? That is how we got in this disaster in the first place! He is a terrible manager and will stab you in back while he is smiling at you. NO TO TERRY LEWIS! Put SU back in the PD now!

No. We are not stuck. We have the ability to recall. It's a tough process but not impossible. Why would VC even mention Lewis? Yes, she's a remnant of the old school. Call her a dinosaur or whatever. This type of governance is no longer acceptable. Please see the "Time for a Change" thread. The posts (or most of them) don't lie. If you don't know by now there are many people working on effecting change. Dinosaur, old school, good ole boy, fraudulent, corrupt? NOPE. Not going to continue.
