Thumbs up Sheriff Tom Knight - A pattern of immorality?

Some of your questions will be answered, but not all of them. Media website links to news articles are provided as corroboration.

The best place to start investigating is on the 2nd floor of the Sarasota Sheriff's Office because that where Sheriff Tom Knight's "promoted cronies" are located (ranks of captain and above). Look at the histories of Knight’s captains and you are in for a rude immoral awakening. It is Pandora’s box on steroids.

For example, let's start from the top and work down and you will begin to see a pattern of immorality with Knight. We have multiple command staff (captains or above) with the following histories:

    • Sheriff Tom Knight was arrested by Venice police officers for disorderly conduct when he got sloppy drunk and angry and emotional about a woman. He subsequently got into a violent fight. It may be old news, but it shows his past (and present) emotional outbursts in public, along with a pattern of immorality, which will be shown below. Knight goes from an emotional 0 to 60 in one second when he gets angry. He then leads by fear, intimidation and revenge. He can be equally polite and cordial. He is extreme at both ends. The record of his criminal arrest might now be expunged (?).

    • Colonel STEVE BURN$ retired recently, his dishonorable actions are worth noting. BURN$ had a criminal case for woman beating, which was sent to the prosecutor's office. The prosecutor gave BURN$ a second chance and at the last minute, decided not to prosecute him, but said that he might change his mind, if BURN$ committed more violence. Click here to read the prosecutor's cover sheet and comments. Knight still promoted BURN$, but BURN$ has since retired from the Sarasota Sheriff’s Office.

    • Colonel Kurt Hoffman failed a polygraph test about stealing from multiple victims and from multiple employers. After failing the lie detector test, Hoffman fessed up to stealing pornography from a store, a boat from a citizen, and other things from past employers. While working as a reserve law enforcement officer, Hoffman stole gas from the Charlotte Sheriff's Office for use in his personal car (twice). None of this was ever forwarded to FDLE for certification issues. Some (not all) of these things have been documented in the media. Click here to see more. Knight still promoted Hoffman and he is still employed as the second in command at the Sarasota Sheriff’s Office.

    • Captain John Walsh was investigated for conduct unbecoming an officer when he was caught by a deputy in the deputy's bed with the deputy's wife. Walsh was subsequently investigated by Internal Affairs (IA), but he lied to the investigator and denied ever being there. He said he had an alibi (Detective Mark Macale) who would vouch for him. Walsh had previously solicited Macale to lie for him, and Macale subsequently lied to the investigator, claiming that Walsh was with him and was never at the deputy's home. Macale eventually cracked under pressure and he told the truth to the investigator - by admitting that he lied as a false alibi for Walsh. When Walsh was re-interviewed, he continued lying until he learned that Macale had told the truth. It was never forwarded to FDLE for certification purposes. The Herald-Tribune newspaper did a story on it, but you can also read about it by clicking here. Knight still promoted Walsh to captain and both Walsh and Macale are still employed at the Sarasota Sheriff’s Office.

    • Captain Ron Locke is another dishonorable mention, even though he has retired. A sergeant and a deputy reported to Knight that Locke got a 17 year old girl pregnant. However, Knight had recently promoted Locke to captain, so he refused to investigate him. As a result, the State had to investigate Locke (via FDLE). Eventually, the victim was located, but she said the incident was in the past and was too painful to recount, so she refused to testify any further. You can read about Knight's refusal to investigate Locke by clicking here. Knight refused to allow Locke to be questioned by his Internal Affairs investigators.

    • Captain Kevin McElyea failed a lie detector tests about sleeping with another man's wife. The husband caught McElyea and the husband then secretly recorded McElyea discussing how to suppress evidence with the wife. The husband gave the secret recording to Knight. You can read more about it by clicking here. Knight still promoted McElyea to captain and he is still employed at the Sarasota Sheriff’s Office.

    • Lieutenant Dan Tutko asked a K-9 deputy to lie during a traffic stop by claiming that the dog "alerted" to drugs during a sniff. That would allow deputies to legally search the car. The deputy refused and he then reported Tutko's request to Knight. No punishment was imposed on Tutko and the reporting-deputy was transferred out of the unit as political retaliation. You can read more about it by clicking here. Knight still promoted Tutko to lieutenant employed at the Sarasota Sheriff’s Office.

And there are many other cases of moral turpitude that only insiders know about, but they involve deputies who are of lesser rank. If Knight really wanted to clean house, he would not have promoted these immoral men into his 2nd floor inner circle. There is definately a consistent pattern by Knight.

Frank Bybee was a rankless deputy who “broke ranks” by suing Knight – so Knight had solid political reasons to go after him – in addition to the fact that Bybee is obviously a hardened criminal. Meanwhile, Knight’s executive staff (aka “promoted perps”) are still un-gainfully employed in Knight’s inner circle on the 2nd floor, making moral or immoral decisions, as it suits their in-house political needs.

Bybee’s gone, but the roots of immorality remain and it starts at the top. Now you know the rest of the story.

    Knight is either:
    - wickedy intelligent
    - wickedly political
    - wickedly conniving
    - wickedly evil
    - or all of the above.

A person's "consistent past actions" reflect his current standing.

    Evil is as evil does.

Is it possible for senior level management, to include the current sheriff of the Sarasota Sheriff's Office, to sink any lower? The stuff that is outlined and described in the first post (in this thread) is like something out of a fictional novel, but here at the SSO, it's real a knightmare that is based on reality with real facts and real people and real circumstances and real media articles. No, it can't get any worse. We've finally hit rock bottom. There is nothing left to do, except to stir the septic cesspool of crap to keep it from becoming stagnate. It's actually self-stirring and bubbling - and maybe combustible too. Don't light a cigarette on the 2nd floor, due to management's creation of noxious septic methane.

We have received a complaint on the above portion of the original post. The complainant asserts that:

    1. The post about the subject being a "woman beater" is false.
    2. The attached SAO letter has nothing to do with a woman victim.
    3. The attached letter states nothing about the SAO changing their mind if violence doesn't stop.
    4. Challenges anyone to find a criminal complaint against the subject from a female.

Since the original poster attached a link substantiating that a criminal charge of battery was investigated and ultimately nolle prossed in 1990 against the subject, I am offering him an opportunity to provide more authentication for the post in reference to the complaint above. The complainant failed to provide me with any explanation of the circumstances surrounding the documentation furnished by the original poster.

    Thanks in advance!

Here is an explanation of the SAO battery paperwork against Colonel Steve BURN$ (retired). I cannot speak for the original poster, but I am familiar with the documented criminal history of BURN$ (retired). The link to the SAO paperwork is from a battery case where Steve BURN$ battered the father of a teenage girl that he was dating (and not the girl herself).

    Explanation:

Steve BURN$ was a lot older than the girl he was dating and she still lived at home with her parents. When Steve knocked on the front door, her father answered. Her father was horrified that a man in his 30s (BURN$) was dating his teenage daughter, so the father told Steve to "get lost" and "get off my property." That pissed off Steve, so a fight ensued. Steve got in the father's face and chest butted him and then grabbed him and threw him down onto the ground and into the bushes that were adjacent to the front door. The lieutenant was called to the scene and Steve was kicked out of the detective bureau and was sent to night shift patrol. The Sarasota Sheriff's Office was going to fire Steve, if the SAO prosecuted him, which is why the writing on the SAO battery report is so important. The SAO paperwork (here) has written on it:

    • "This [nolle prose] action is taken without prejudice to the right of the State of Florida to resume prosecution on this matter in the future."

After the statute of limitations expired, Steve breathed a sign of relief.

The rumors and allegations of "woman beating" were in reference to a completely different incident involving Steve's former wife, but they never made it to court and no paperwork was generated (to my knowledge).

Knight and his appointed political henchmen read this website regularly. Kudos to Reporter Tom Lyons for printing the recent article in the Sarasota Herald-Tribune about the ongoing noxious knightmare with the tragic Knight/Bybee case. The framing of Bybee is just the tip of the political iceberg.

Tom Knight hates the newspaper because he can't erase the articles. LOL

His last written attack on Mr. Lyons is proof positive of that.

Knight can push some of the people around some of the time, but Knight can't push all of the people around all of the time.

From a 2017 statutory viewpoint, since it happened in the curtilage of the victim's doorway, CoLoNeL sTeVe bUrn$ (rEtArD from duty) would be arrested for:
    - burglary with battery (FeLoNy)
    - home invasion (FeLoNy)

Ok, so Bybee was caught mastrubating and being a gigilo. What's even more interesting is that with Kurt Hoffman's history (in reference to Hoffman stealing porn), Hoffman is the one who signed Bybee's IA report concerning masturbation. You can see Hoffman's signature here. The left hand greases the right hand on the 2nd floor. How much crap remains undetected and unexposed on the 2nd floor?

Would you hire this man? Knight made Hoffman second-in-charge at the Sarasota Sheriff's Office!!!! It's like a fictitious novel around here, but we're actually living through it. Have you ever experienced a knightmare that you can't wake-up from?
