I retired 5 years ago, at that time Narcotics and Homicide were the premiere bureaus ? People would die to get in either one.

Buddy, you would not even recognize Homicide after being gone these last five years. The command staff, if you can call them that, have absolutely destroyed the place. It all started when Valdes was kicked out and Ramirez was brought in as major. That was the start, but the slide has continued at an alarming rate. Great lieutenants out so they can move their buddies in. Awesome sergeants who could not take it anymore leaving. And detectives with years of experience bailing out due to the poor state of the bureau. This command staff is an absolute disaster. Shameful what they've done to Homicide.

This guy has no idea what he is doing other than not allowing detectives to work... loser... this is one of the bureau's in which you MUST work more than 8 hours to conduct an investigation..... dam kiss ass! Mayor Gimenez, the Homicide Bureau is a like a dormant volcano; so long as the bureau functions are guided by experience and investigative intellect all is copacetic. When you as Miami Dade County "De Facto" sheriff allow incompetence, inexperience and favoritism to reign, it is just a matter of when "Vesuvius," will blow its top! Did you not learn a thing during your years as City of Miami manager, when Miami PD's homicide section slowly eroded to it current level of ineptitude? In policing, Homicide investigation is the pinnacle; when citizens are murdered, the police agency must move heaven and earth until the assassin(s) is/are identified, arrested and prosecuted. With conviction being the only metric that matters.
