They must of overlooked Florida State Troopers when doing their study then... They make more while they are in the academy and they make more when they graduate..

Georgia with their huge state budget of 23.7 Billion dollars to spend, finds more money for their employees and just gave the Troopers A 20% raise on top of the 35,xxx they make now, because how poorly they are paid... Poor Florida with its 82 BILLION dollar budget ( about four times higher than Georgia ) can't seem to find any money for its Troopers, they need to save the manatees or whatever else they can think of before they give our sorry butts a raise...
    Our legislatures are awesome here..

It is not a budget issue obviously, it is that the legislators, the Governor, do not care about FHP at all, also there is a HUGE difference in salaries from a LE agency in South FL and another one in rural FL (yes some Sheriff Deputies in FL make less than FHP) I think the very few legislators who actually took the time to look at the issue saw the salaries of LEO in counties with a much lower cost of living an thought "what are they complaining about?" those folks have no clue than living in Orange, Hillsborough, Sarasota, Collier, Pinellas etc on 33k a year is tough. On top of that I am questioning the hiring process, some qualified applicants get turned down even before really having a chance with the excuse that FHP has "only a few positions available", a few? When you have 2 Troopers patrolling a big county, very funny. Georgia HP is more respected than FHP, they seem to have more support from the brass, their duties are more diverse, again the salary is not the only thing that shows which agencies are appreciated and which ones are the very last concern of decision makers. Florida needs a good Highway Patrol, and you guys deserve a real Law enforcement salary!

It is obviously not a budget issue, the legislators and Governor dont care about FHP period, also unlike GA in FL you have HUGE differences in salary from the some counties/cities (Miami Dade, Palm Beach, Orlando, Hillsborough) and rural areas, some Deputies make less than FHP in those very rural counties, it is very possible than the few legislators who actually took a couple of minutes to look at the issue saw that some SO pay their rookie Deputies 30k a year and they thought "what are those troopers complaining about? They are paid through the academy on top of it!" those folks probably have no clue than living in Orange, Hillsborough, Collier, Pinellas, Sarasota etc on 33k is not great. GHP has more support, their duties are more diverse, it is not only a salary issue, in GA you have decision makers who care about their Highway Patrol, on FL not so much.

Thank a republican. Every attempt to give state employees a raise has been overridden by a republican. Oh sure, we have gotten a few crumbs over the last 10 years but there are many state employees that got nothing. The legislature is proud of the fact that Florida has the lowest cost per citizen for state government. What they don't tell you is the only reason this Ponzi Scheme works is because state employees make it work. While the politicians/political tools brag on their management skills, the worker ants keep them fed. If you actually get a raise, expect the cost of health insurance to go up. It's nothing less than a steel-toed boot on the throat of the working man. 10-65 Signal 4.....

Quit whining you bunch of babies. You knew what the salary was when you applied. Just shut the hell up and work a little harder and the legislature will notice. Then you can get a raise!!!!

Either your ID number is 1799 or somewhere up there or your just plain stupid.. Whatever your dumb excuse for that post was, let me help you,, IT jUST IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! Even if numbers were sky high, studies have shown that Florida legislatures, ran by our Republican legislatures will not be giving you a raise, the only raise you will get is the one that keeps you just above poverty level...

That is not an economical comparison.... total state budget comparisons.
Florida's population dwarfs Georgia's. And, if you add in the temporary "residents" who "winter" here, the FL budget is actually strained to maintain spending levels per capita--especially in education. The real FL problem is the outrageously large amount of spending for WELFARE/Medicaid. Now, there is a perfidious statistic.
    Next argument.

Sometimes I wonder how you people survive in the real world. Florida has the LOWEST spending per capita in the USA. Check this out for yourself.

I'm sure you will have some other BS to say, but the message is clear, Florida has plenty of money and they do NOT want to spend it on you... Go save the manatees...
