It was $50,000.00 it was Jimmy Burke, the only one that had both the key and combination (you needed two people). Funny thing when he went to Opa Locka the same thing happened again another $50,000.00 went missing. Know you stories and people's before you talk.

It was $150,000, and the combination was on a sticky note stuck under a desk pad, there were plenty of spares to the key, some authorized, some not, including one copy in an open desk for the entire weekend. Jimmy Burke wasn't guilty. There was a CI who partied with the cops who stole the money and he rolled over, but they were never charged since it was only his word. No one was polygraphed. But there was one squad in the unit which had been stealing drugs, cash and jewelry for almost a year. Lopez was on that squad. Both some felons in prison and their defense attorneys confirmed the thefts, but the state attorney decided not to prosecute since all of the witnesses and victims were a bunch of scummy drug dealers. It was just like the River cops.
In the end, almost everyone got transferred, guilty and innocent both. Some of them later were fired or arrested for other drug dealing sh*t.

And Victor Zapata was an idiot. He was convicted of trafficking in coke (while he was still wearing a MPD uniform...dirtbag) and did 9 years in Federal prison.
