The Community and the Nations wants police to have body cameras
Why has Chief Llanes fail to adequately equipped his officer with body and dash cameras. Obama has approve over $50 million dollars to match the departments cost to purchase body cameras.
The community and the media expects officers to have body cameras because the large untrust between the community and police.
Our department has a history of covering up and planting guns. If Llanes wants to talk about cost then the will of the community would have to pay for the additional cost. So that doesn't make sense.
We are servants of the community. We work for the community is not up to Llanes not to purchase the equipment the citizens of miami want.
This is not an new issue. This bs by chief Llanes is just so he can cover up incidents as he wish and chose.
Remember every police chief just wants to remain in power. Body cameras would just expose the corruption he and his officer and are doing.
This is not an honest Chief. Has lied his entire career and continues to do it now.

"Why has Chief Llanes fail to adequately equip his officer with body and dash cameras?"
This question should be posed to the Mayor, City Commission and City Manager. Why have they not moved to equip each Miami Police Officer and cruiser with cameras? Do you think for a moment that Llanes -- a political appointee -- would obstruct the will of the people of Miami -- as expressed through their elected officers -- and city manager if they were to direct him to do so and provide the funding to get it done? No! Mind you, equipping the entire Department, though a daunting challenge, is not the major obstacle. Crafting a policy that follows the Nation's best practices in this new and challenging field, procuring secured and reliable storage and retrievable mechanisms are; never mind continuous cost associated with the latter. The Federal and State Governments are notorious for demanding unfunded mandates; even when they contribute start-up funds; such are usually short lived, generally lasting no more than three years. Remember the Bill Clinton's 100K COPS Program? Here is a reminder: "The IG also found evidence that many police departments [had] no plans to retain new hires once their federal funding [ran] out.” If fact many large police agencies used these Federal Funds just to keep up with annual attrition with no negative impact on their budgets. Example: An agency's attrition rate is normally 60 sworn members per year; what some did was hire that number under the COPS program, move senior officers to the COPS Program and by the time the three year grant period expired, attrition would have taken care of the overage and the agency would have had a zero net gain in staffing. The alternative was worse, as cited above. Many smaller agencies, once the three year grant period expired, fired those officers hired under the COPS Program.
You want cameras? Demand that Miami's Mayor and City Commissioners increase the ad valorem millage rate on the City's taxable real estate; so Chief Llanes can effectively equip and manage the camera program.

He still has an obligation to inform the city manager the commissioners and the mayor if need be. Let the residents determine if that's what they wAnt.

The more and more I see this on social media I realize that every cop in America needs to wear a body camera. Those cover up days are over. IA is the biggest joke to these misconduct incidents and allegations. They will cover up shit if your in the family and friends club. If your not.. they will fabricate and omit evidence to find you guilty. Imagine what they do to the public. The decision maker lies with the Chief on which way to go. The Question here is, who is watching IA?
