You aren't Alaska or TX State police, if the civilian dispatcher sends you elsewhere than the shooting at the pulse and you don't go, are you 100% certain that your brass is going to support you? I doubt it. You make it sound like you are in the army.

Most of the troopers come from a military background. They joined FHP because they want to continue serving. We go through a very tough military style training for 27 weeks (at least most of us that went to the old academy). OPD, the SO and other agencies get their people from Valencia Community College or steal the best we have (not always). These agencies don't want to give up power in whatever jurisdiction they have. It's not that we don't do the training, it's your agency that don,t want us to! Their greatest fear (and your perhaps) is that FHP becomes a State Police. So never mind what's best to keep the citizens safe and let's keep FHP where they are.

I would venture to say the locals did pretty well in an urban setting, now if the suspect was barricaded in a car on the turnpike...

Which incident are you talking about? If you're referring to the carjacking on the Turnpike which turned into a barricaded suspect/hostage rescue...that was OPD SWAT which made entry and rescued the hostages. Ironically enough, that was just s few hours before that same OPD SWAT team responded to Pulse.

Yes they were there, but they didnt have the lead on the entry. The local SO did FHP SWAT took up perimeter positions.

We have an SRT team, NOT a SWAT team. OPD took over the scene as soon as it became a hostage situation.
Do you know who Troop D has as the SRT Commander?
If so, you would not want him in charge of any real swat type scenario. Now if you needed him for 208 at Disney, hes your guy.
