now you know why the lab will never get better

You see the attitude they have about you. Whining on here with hopes that something will change in the lab is a dream.

It's been considered under Lamberti and the current administration. FDLE has made it clear that it will shut down the lab and send the work to Orlando and Fort Myers. BSO CI and Satz won't be able to work their wish list of endless items worked. Expedited and rush cases will no longer exist. So be careful what you wish for.

Times change. It works that way in the rest of the State

The vast majority of the State except for a handful have their work done by FDLE. Cases get filed, police get their results and the local residents don't have to foot the bill. As it is, the Lab no longer does many things it did in the past including firearms. CI and Satz have survived without those services. Lambretti and Isreal have proven that a local lab is not necessary. They cut out services and outsourced others. Life goes on. The winner is the local tax payer. With automation the need for a local lab is reduced. Millions of dollars are saved and the space in the Courthouse can be used for other purposes. As they say a win win situation.

Duncan is the problem over there. If the girls have a question about scientific (flawed) practice is supposed to be done, he tried to squash them like a bug. Then there is Dale who protects him. The labs accreditation is on probationary status due to sustained violations. It's a joke.

Little in the way of testing compared to other local labs

Here's what Miami Made Crime Lab (16 categories) does which is less than FDLE:

    1.1 Controlled Substance
    3.1 DNA - Nuclear
    3.3 Body Fluid Identification
    4.1 Paint
    4.3 Fiber and Textiles
    4.4 Gunshot Residue
    4.6 Glass
    4.15 General Physical and
    Chemical Analysis
    5.1 Firearms
    5.2 Toolmarks
    5.3 Gunshot Distance Determination
    6.1 Latent Print Processing
    6.2 Latent Print Comparisons
    6.4 10-Print Comparisons
    10.1 Impression Evidence
    (footwear/tires)
    10.2 Serial Number Restoration

Here's how little Broward lab does (6 categories):

    1.1 Controlled Substances
    3.1 DNA - Nuclear
    3.3 Body Fluid Identification

Deerfield Beach, FL (Ammoland.com) – In 2011, Michael Hamilton of Coral Springs was found dead in his apartment where he had been killed during a robbery gone awry. Hamilton’s roommate found him stabbed to death with his empty wallet beside him. Several other items were also missing from the apartment. Six years later, two suspects have been apprehended thanks to DNA left on a lemonade bottle and spit found on the ground.
