Sgt Chris Iorio - Congratulations on your retirement!

    You made it!

In the last chapter of your career, you made an upstanding ethical choice to make a good moral decision. However, your moral decision was opposed to Tom Knight and his appointed henchmen. You learned the hard way that sometimes doing the right thing carries with it painful consequences for exposing immoral behaviors. You lived through those painful consequences. It's a story that you have to live through to believe. It's like something out of a novel. For example, upstanding Germans who spoke out against Adolf Hitler were publicly ridiculed by Hitler’s appointed henchmen. Question: Did those upstanding Germans make the right decision to stand up to Hitler’s immoral behaviors? It depends on who you ask.

You made it out of this rat’s nest with a solid retirement. Congratulations for choosing the moral and ethical path, regardless of the vindictive behaviors of Knight and his command staff!

In the big picture, you did the right thing. Thank you for being honest.

This is a warning to anyone who has less than 5 years employment here. Cross your t's and dot your i's and trust no one, unless you are in Knight's sanctimonious and unholy inner circle, whereupon you'll be covered for, no matter what you've done (ask retiree Ron Locke). But if you rat out one of Knight's political golden boyz, then you'll pay the political price because you'll be "written up" on trumped up allegations. The trick they use is to "mix lies with the truth," which helps to sustain the fabricated allegations against an employee.

As everyone else has already noted, it will be interesting to see how Knight handles his current legal fiasco with his public defiance of a court order because it's much more difficult for him to "push around judges."

Is Chris going to stay in the SSO reserves to maintain his certification or did Knight permanently blackball him?
