Captain - Civil Service exam - test good and or have bonus points (military, affirmative action 1st Lt) and you are in. Forgot, if you are a white male this is a must have position to be able to move up higher

Major - Bachelor degree, off probation as a Captain (white guys) or Lt (everyone else) and hope there are enough Chiefs, ADs or political hacks to support you. If you are related to the Mayor's family by marriage - no need for this one.

Chief - at least a Lt. (got to be able to reach and get the quotas). No prior experience needed - just ask the current D - oh yeah, he had a full year as a Captain.

AD - same as Chief but much input by the BCC who want their butt kissers. Again, if you are related to the Mayor's family feel free to skip this one too.

DD - only exists to political hacks, mayoral relations or those who either need to be "satisfied" because they were screwed over for the D position (such as SR was) or a place to put someone who has lil management experience and can only supervise the training bureau.

D - Suck up political hack that may be related to the mayor's family or can represent the community as a puppet to fill the mayor's agenda.

See - nothing to it :P

Wouldn't doubt it. Loftus and Jane arranged for Burgess to get a gold badge with the badge number of 1 on it when he was the Manager and before the strong Mayor initiative. Just do a public records request for all badges purchased and the person they are assigned to and don't forget to get a statement from Sierra in the Quartermaster office Bet none of those given out have been returned when they left office.

Your facts are a bit out line on this story

Jane (former AD) was removed from her position shortly after Director Parker was made director, as was her Budget person (veronica) so "Jane" could not have helped Loftus give Burges a gold badge. I am not saying he didn't get one, just saying not from that combo

Facts are correct - since I was one of just a couple in the room when the topic was discussed. Jane had Loftus come on in to discuss if providing the badge was okay and he said it was. You are correct about the facts on Parker dumping Jane and Veronica but you must know that VS was also in a relationship with JL. It was her that called the Springs PD when JL "allegedly" tried to get in the her QTH to get some property. Our IA responding person was Paul Miller, the same one who JL covered throughout his career even after he totaled a County vehicle in Broward - the real reason he was in Homicide while JL was in charge. Needed to take care of him even though he had "physical" limitations as a result of the 17. Pressure came too much and since the Gardens was FRS he was pushed along to that growing PD.

Qualifications??? Are you kidding?? Look around!! Who above Captain deserves their position nowadays, 2 or 3? Captains are obsolete, Majors are pretty much all lieutenants, lately some don't even qualify for the interview. Rank means nothing anymore, just a change in pay.

Most Captains, if not all, don't want anything higher than their rank.

Why would they? Why not make more money while a rookie LT (major) takes the responsibility? As a matter of fact, there are some lieutenants who would not even take it. We are the bigger and better Sweetwater PD. Go MDPD!!
