Interesting, the new school was drawn to this profession for pay, benefits, and security. The old school was inspired by comradery, service to community, and selflessness. Captain Doug Barclay cared about his people and served his community with professionalism. Unfortunately, 33 years of dedication can be undone in 6 months by a chief who came from Punta Gorda. For all you new school people that are enamored by this false prophet, be weary of the false prophet who allows you to trample on tradition with false hope of what will never be. Remember, you were drawn to the profession built on structure, chain of command, and dedication to duty. If your lucky to make it 33 years than maybe, just maybe, you will appreciate earning your pay, rank, and privilege that only hard work can grant you. There are no shortcuts to a successful future.
To the new school, good luck to your future and your profession.
To Doug, Congrats to a great Captain and wonderful person who was once a pain in my ass to work for. God Bless my friend! A great new chapter in life awaits you.

How disappointing for DB to leave us by feeding the very beast he despised (this site). True colors.
