To All PBA Members,

Last week, the President of the Broward County PBA took it upon himself to endorse Betsy Benson for judge. You maynot know who Betsy is but you will soon remember. Betsy was initially assigned to help defend the murders of Deputy Brian Tephord. These same animals would have killed another Deputy if it were not for his ballistic vest. Members of the Pembroke Pines Police Dept. were dragged through the mud several times by the same person when a homicide case was tried that occurred in their city. The point is, we pay money to an organization who claims to be the "voice of law enforcement" but endorsing a person who consistently attacks police officers for the sake of her client is crossing the line.

The closing date to file for a judges election is May 6th 2016 and we do not even know who all of the candidates are yet. How can one person at the Broward PBA make such a decision and support someone who defends cop killers without even knowing who all the candidates are? You are paying money each month to an organization that claims to be the voice of law enforcement but acts only in self interest. Only you can make a difference and stop giving money to an organization that serves only to further their personal gain. If you truly think the PBA makes a serious attempt to pick the best candidate to represent the men and women of law enforcement, I ask that you look at their recent endorsements. Claudia Estrada was a long time PBA attorney and they would not even offer her an interview when it came time for an endorsement for a judges opening.

The Broward County PBA endorses a defender of a cop killer but is not even paying the lawyer fees for Deputy Peraza as he sits through a manslaughter trial. The State PBA had to step in and pay Perazas attorney because they have no money. To broke to pay for an attorney but not broke enough to keep paying for a private golf membership.
