Doing the right thing !!!!!!
Commissioners, if this weeks tragic events have shown us anything it is we need to be prepared. You now know the number of officers we have lost. Those that have resigned or forced retired or who were fired for no valid reason are experienced patrol officers. As it stands now, we have a high liability/risk situation at any of our schools, we are screwed. You got a hint of this last week when the bomb scare and hostage situation occurred at the same time. We had to rely on help from the sheriff and that took time. A school shooting occurs within five minutes. Commissioners you know by now just what is occurring here, complete incompetent chaos. You know the leadership of this dept along with several other depts. is nothing more than complete screw-ups getting promoted. By now I would hope you figured out not to believe a word that comes from there mouths. They will tell you what you want to hear and not what is the truth.
Our patrol division has been decimated, Our forensics bureau has zero credibility, Our CID investigative bureau is led by an incompetent, but nice guy, Captain. and a incompetent barely??? sane acting commander/SGT
Our administration consists of a Captain who doesn't know the truth, a rejected SCSO Captain /asst chief and yes our chief. Let us not forget the incompetent HR director, she needs to find a new career.
All these problems you are accountable for. You have a chance to do the right thing here. Appoint the new chief, rid this dept of the asst chief and civilian I/A clerk. Instruct the new chief to solicit all the officers who are willing to return under a new administration and new way of doing things. This puts at least some experience back on the streets and saves the city lots of money in not having to train and hire anew. This shows the taxpayers and employees you are on there side and are genuinely trying to right the wrongs committed by the current leadership of the various department in question. Do the right thing !!!!

Protecting our schools
On the NPCC FB page the is a discussion on how to improve school security. One of the ideas being discussed is putting armed veterans in our school to augment the school resource officer. Is this really a good idea, probably not. As a vet I know first hand the difficulties Vets have readjusting. PTSD being amongst the most discussed psychological order but there are many more. I am not saying all Vets are psychologically unfit, but we really should be considering other avenues. Yes a trained vet would shoot it out with any intruder, after we all were trained to kill , but is that what we want.
Another avenue we might research is private armed security, $15.00 an hour rent a cops. Employed by a reputable security company and highly trained for the situations they might find themselves in. If you notice Bank of America has started to use armed security at there branches.
What we cannot do is expect the PD to stretch our already diminished resources and put two or three cars a day at each school, this reduces response and patrol time if something was to occur elsewhere in the city.
Yes the PD does have part of the responsibility in protecting our schools and our children, but the majority of this responsibility falls squarely on the schools and the school district. The NPPD is down double digit uniformed officers and now due to recent promotions to detective etc, there are less uniforms on the street. If there is a situation at any of our schools we do not have the uniformed resources to respond in force, we will respond, but not in numbers. So that means admin and the CID must respond and well they certainly will not be there in a few minutes, if they show at all. The sheriff is at least a half hour away. We are there, we will respond but the situation here for uniformed officers is really really bad. Vespia has decimated this place and is leaving his purge for the next admin to clean up. Our children need to be protected, our schools need to be safe. Now we just need to figure out how we as a community are going to accomplish this.

$99,990 to SU and Lawyer + plus the City is paying for the Mediator... unknown at time of signing the settlement. He will be hired back for one day, then resign the next day.
Oh and neither Steve or the City can disparage each other blah blah.... of course all that legal mumble jumble goes to hell when sworn and put on the stand on 'Swear to Tell the Truth Day'Last edited by Stephanie Gibson; 02-25-2018 at 03:24 AM.
