What don't you nit-wits understand?!?! With this proposal we ALL MAKE MORE MONEY!! End of story.
With this raise you get more $$ in OT
With this raise you get more $$ in FRS
With this raise you keep the $$ when you get bounced from your "specialized" position.
And if I hear 1 hostage negotiator running their suck about this I will negotiate my foot in your a$$

Why does the road deserve a bigger raise than a specialized unit?

The road gets 7%, but Specialized units only about 5% because you took money away from them. So Jeff, why should specialized units get a SMALLER raise than road patrol. Ohh I get we, we have to sacrifice for everybody else. But the majority will vote for it. The majority who are used to participation trophies. Just like the majority of Americans will vote to raise taxes because they personally don't pay any and they want more free stuff.

Secondly, the 5% step increase that everyone gets retro to October, is that in addition to the step increase they were already slated to get that year? Lets say a step 6 Deputy has an Anniversary date in March, does he jump to step 7 retro to October and then in March Jump to Step 8? If not then the extra 5% is all smoke and mirrors. Your just promising him something now that he was going to get anyways. The only ones who will see anything are the guys with over 10 years on.

Look Bailen was right about Union Reps not wanting to 10-65. If you take the spot of a Rep, you shouldn't be afraid to 10-65 due retaliation. The purpose of a Rep is to stand up for all the people, and if he is afraid of losing a specialized unit he has no business being a rep. These reps are pitting one group of people against the other. But to claim that Specialized units are not entitled to any extra pay is a jump in logic.

Specialized units are SUPPOSED TO BE BETTER THAN EVERYONE ELSE. If that weren't the case lets have any retard work a homicide case, or make forced entry on a barricaded subject. They focus their craft and put in the extra work required for the position. I have seen a lot of guys turn down CI because they claim it is just not worth it. They say "Why should I give up 3 and 4 days off for a case load and a mountain of headaches. When working the road all i have to worry about is the call I'm on right now."

This agency already has a problem recruiting for some specialized units. I heard the last Motors posting received 2 applicants. The sheriff will never make Detective a rank, like it should be. It means giving up control. The agency saw a mountain of transfer requests when the road went to 12 hour shifts. It forced CI's hand and they went to 4 -10s. When no one starts applying for CI, is the Sheriff going to be allowed to force someone in? "Hey Deputy Jones, we think you would make a great Detective." "Sorry I cant I need this schedule for my child care, second job, or whatever." "Tough, go buy a shirt and tie and report to Special Victims on Monday, and have fun with the call outs." After all, we are all just Deputies right. If I can be transferred to District 54 tomorrow, why not CI?

What we are seeing here is hatred for guys who do a job that others don't understand. It is typical Socialist Bullshyt that we are all equal and all deserve the same. It pits one group of people against another. After the PBA debacle, I hoped IUPA would bring us all together.
    Well said.

Really, FTD. They do more paperwork then all of you with the Daily Observation reports documenting the performance of a trainee that they have ride with and train for a month at a time. Some going from trainee to trainee without a break. They now have to apply, take a written test and an oral board before even being allowed to take the 40 hr FDLE FTO Course. They are involved with the sergeants, lieutenants and training/PSB whenever they have a trainee that is a problem. They can incur more liability than a solo road patrol deputy.

I believe all the units can justify their supplemental pay. This suggestion to vote on this was unfair. Just offer the 3/3/3 or 4/4/4 or 5/4/3 as a RAISE. If the money isn't there then we have been shorted by the county commission for the sheriff to properly pay his deputies and the sheriff should look there for the money.
