    Tomy Chew Toy

Been more then a month since the city decided to settle the lawsuit where Bush let Tomy use a kid's leg as a chew toy. Yet there still has been no dollar amount made public.

And there won't be. You see, the city settles the cases for 6 figures and then makes the victim sign a non-disclosure agreement so that the public can not find out what was paid out.

So the victim cannot disclose, but can the government choose not to disclose? Are you suggesting it is an exemption to the sunshine law? I think everyone of them should be highly publicized THEN maybe the pressure will land on those that think the status quo is just fine. It is not.

Just to make things even clearer, the city settles lawsuits with pretty much everyone with non disclosure agreements so the public can not know how inept things are. You can include former police department employees with that.

The city can be forced to release the amount of money it or it's insurer's have paid out as a total sums with out mentioning any of the payers names.

That also would kill any of the city's attemp at refusing to release the info under a phonie worry about privacy rights about the payees.

This sounds like a great way for the Herald Tribune to let the citizens of North Port know just how inept Keven is when they see how much money is being given to people. After that they can do a story on the turnover rate at the department since he took over.

We need to remember, this kid did commit what numerous car breakins and was being chased from an in progress when eaten up. Commits numerous crimes, sues and gets six figure payday. His mommy the trooper is no dummy, riding the wave, More Money More Money, this is just the first of oh so many lawsuits. The problem is none are taken to trial and when one does and the jury sees who and what is going on here, punitive damages, but the city also covers them so the incompetent ones are protected. Their reasoning is very sound No reason to change were are covered, its not our money.
