Whether by design or incompetence, Carlos Gimenez has decimated MDPD and as a consequence, its capacity to confront and minimize violent crimes in the most afflicted communities – the African American communities! Gimenez and his political allies on the M D C Commission don't give a damn about the carnage the criminal element is inflicting on these communities. Sure they will give speeches, sound and look solemn, but when it comes time to properly fund, equip and staff MDPD, they are fiscally *****rdly.

On August 30, 2016, Miami Dade County voters must fire Gimenez and elect a Strong Mayor that will put public safety first. By bifurcating the budget, with Public Safety being the first priority to be fully funded the newly elected Strong Mayor and “de facto” Sheriff will ensure optimal public safety services are available to combat crime and disorder. Conversely, if Miami Dade Countians were “Served and Protected” by an elected Sheriff, that would be the incumbent’ most urgent priority and under FSS 30.49 – Budgets, the elected Sheriff would ensure that every taxpayers’ dollar is diligently procured and wisely utilized, FREE from political interferences from the Mayor and his/her political allies. No wonder Gimenez and his allies are so adamantly opposed to the elected Sheriff!

By bifurcating; that means dividing the budget into two branches, with Public Safety being the first priority to be fully funded, the newly elected Strong Mayor and “de facto” Sheriff will ensure optimal public safety services are available to combat crime and disorder. Disbanding those units likely made things worse, but you can't seriously think that the mayor created the drug war.

No, but eliminating proactive policing from high drug trafficking areas ensure increased, “drug traps” and worse, arm conflict over control for the most lucrative ones. Thus the multiple shootings, aggravated assaults, aggravated batteries and murders or as the idiom goes: “When the cat's away, the mice will play . . .” and in this case, with unfettered abandon.

Yes he did as he is the strong mayor (defacto sheriff)and at his direction had mdpd meet with people who claim the war on drugs is a failure, maybe not intentionally, but tell that to the 7 year olds mom or all the kids shot in liberty city. Policies have consequence. TNT was disbanded not due to a lack of cops but due to ideology of Patterson and the mayor. Ask any of the narcotics bureau dets and supervisors.

Alot of the dets are happy TNT was disbanded as you had to work all damn shift as a team exposing yourself to huge liability and danger. But the shootings were down. Now they can leisurely investigate tips without all the stress. When Nanny was here he pushed us to arrest all the dealers and seize guns exposing us not him to the danger. Why noone cares about the hood or us?

I was here many years with Nanney, he took great care of his cops and didn't ask us to do anything he didn't do. Best major-street cop ever at MDPD. Its not the new peoples fault cop work has changed and we cant do the proactive work we use to just look at Baltimore and Chicago. Do your job but be extra careful don't forget to seat-belt the perps.
