    Sumter County Command Staff

The Sumter County Sheriff's Office is getting a new second-in-command, i.e. Chief Deputy. Once again Gary Brannen is getting a chance at the no. 2 spot of a law enforcement agency............lets hope this time it turns out better than the last time.

Brannen nor Binegar aren't going anywhere for a few years. Both have been waiting in the wings to show what they can do, now it's their time and you better hold on for the ride.

    The Staff of Immorality

Hell, one of them had a continuing improper/unlawful relationship with an inmate who was a convicted felon and had that inmate move in once she was released from jail. Then later groomed a juvenile for sex and once she was 18 had her move in.

Major Gary Brannen named chief deputy with Sumter County Sheriff’s Office

JANUARY 5, 2016 BY STAFF REPORT LEAVE A COMMENT

Major Gary Brannen has been promoted to chief deputy with the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

He succeeds Jimmy Terry who retired at the end of December. Chief Deputy Terry worked under Sheriff Bill Farmer and former Sheriff Jamie Adams. One of many highlights was Chief Terry’s time with the drug interdiction team. This team was responsible for removing hundreds of kilos of cocaine/marijuana and millions in drug money off the street.

“He has done a great job as chief deputy as well as all the other duties he was assigned from the beginning of his career with the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. I want to wish him well in his retirement for he will be missed,” said Sheriff Farmer.

The sheriff announced some other promotions

    • Major Steve Binegar has been transferred from Corrections/Court Services to Law Enforcement Bureau.

    • Captain Reace Thompson promoted to major, Corrections/Court Services Bureau.

    • Lt. Page Albritton to captain, Corrections/Court Services Bureau.

    • Lt. Chris Haworth to captain, Law Enforcement Operations Bureau.

    • Sgt. Juliane Day to lieutenant, Corrections/Court Services Bureau.
