    Human Superpowers: Facial Recall

Got some questions about the chief's memo re mandatory testing to find Super Recognizers within SPPD.
Has anyone made the upper percentile? Does it mean being drafted for a dead end career path... looking at film footage all day long, or stuck walking a beat, working crowds?
    http://www.bbc.com/future/story/2015...o-tackle-crime

Is it another gimmick to "do more with less"? None of the other policing fads are working, other than generating publicity for the "innovative" leadership.

So I take it that you can't recognize yourself in a mirror?

It's not possible to see your reflection in a smoky room, Kurt. Allow us to be your mirror.

    Chief Frankenstein doesn't get it

    From: Anthony Holloway
    Subject: Human-to-human facial recognition performance

"In an effort to provide the best service possible to citizens of St. Petersburg and to take a leadership role in the law enforcement community, I am proud to announce that we will be attempting to identify if we have any current employees, sworn or civilian, who are exceptionally adept at facial recognition...To the best of our knowledge, we are the first law enforcement agency in the U.S. to scientifically identify its employees who are most skilled at facial recognition...We have teamed up with two of the nation’s premier researchers in this field of study, Dr. Brad Duchaine of Dartmouth College and Dr. Laura Germine of Harvard University, to test all of our employees...All employees, sworn and civilian, are required to take the test by Friday, November 6, 2015."
    - - - - -

Make no mistake, this is a psychological experiment. Up until now, Dr. Duchaine and Dr. Germine recruited volunteers for their research experiments. http://news.harvard.edu/gazette/stor...ch-lab-online/
Do they know that St. Petersburg Police Department personnel were ordered to submit to this testing by the chief of police?

It's not torture, but that's what gave rise to ethical standards in human research
"In 1947 came the Nuremberg Code and other international codes of ethics written to protect research participants. Under this code, the physicians were convicted for crimes against humanity. This also led to standards in research REQUIRING THAT SUBJECTS PARTICIPATE VOLUNTARILY."

SPPD leadership wants to gain fame as the first US law enforcement agency to "scientifically identify its employees." It probably will be famous -- as the most unethical department in the nation. What a shame to tarnish the work of
Dr. Duchaine and Dr. Germine in the process.

    Psychological Research
"conducted to analyze the behaviors of individuals or groups; the research can have OCCUPATIONAL CONSEQUENCES"

This is a continuation of the 2nd-3rd-4th chance program. A defense lawyer subpoenas the data showing 99% of
    SPPD police personnel make misidentifications.

Admin needs to have a Tuskegee experiment done on them.

Face Recognition Ability: Impacts on Law Enforcement
    American Psychological Association, June 2015
    http://www.apa.org/science/about/psa...cognition.aspx
    by Brad Duchaine PhD

"The police department in St. Petersburg, Florida contacted me in order to test the face recognition abilities of their 750 employees. Laura Germine at Harvard Medical School and I are developing a method that we will use to test all the officers and staff, and the department will then consider face recognition ability when assigning people to tasks. People
with extraordinary face recognition may be used in a manner similar to the super-recognizers in London, whereas officers with especially poor face recognition can focus on tasks that do not demand strong face recognition. Face recognition ability may also become a factor that departments consider when hiring new officers."

    Tony, you're gonna be famous

    Item 1: Informed consent
    American Psychological Association
    http://www.apa.org/news/press/releas...d-consent.aspx
--->Dr. Brad Duchaine, Dr.Laura Germine and Herr Holloway FAILED TO OBTAIN THE INFORMED CONSENT OF
    ST PETERSBURG POLICE OFFICERS.

Item 2: Chief Tony Holloway was "inspired by the success in London"
    http://www.apa.org/science/about/psa...cognition.aspx
--->Britain's patrol officers are unarmed. That's what the 3 political stooges are after. Two are masquerading as scientists and one is wearing a police chief costume.

This is a stick up, hand over your brains

Other things the test can do. Detect early neuro disorders (called prosopagnosia, face blindness) like Alzheimers, Parkinsons, stroke and bounce you out on disability. The so called race effect means blacks can identify people of their own race better, ditto for whites, hispanics, asians, and they can use this as an excuse to segregate, hire, promote based on which race needs more policing. Many possibilities there. If you trust the dept with your life, take their word for it and participate in the research testing. Ah forget it, you've been ordered to do it and your career depends on it. My feeling is the chief needs to #HaveHisHeadExamined
