What exactly is so wrong here? We have nice take home cars, new tasers, great equipment, all the overtime we want, pretty easy work environment, lots of down time and enough activity to satisfy those hungry for traffic and arrests. We make a pretty decent salary for what we do. We are finally getting compensated for doing extra duties like bike officer, FTO, TRT etc. Occasionally we take silly report calls but so does every other agency. Our supervisors aren't too demanding or overbearing. I don't think you will ever be happy here or anywhere for that matter. I feel sorry for you, going through life angry, bitter and negative, always complaining about everything. What a miserable existence. Why don't you do us all a favor and leave.

    Another mysterious change.

When it comes down to it no one is really safe. There's a reason for everything here not just " Challenging and exciting Opportunities" as our career inside Administrator gleefully claims. Guess we'll figure it out sooner or later.

By the way the Climate survey results stated that the major problem here was certain Command Staff members and J.Long.

They need to put those cars where it looks like they actually pulled up to the building and are out there, not parked in a parking space with all the other cars and it's hardly noticed. Speaking of the fleet of cars, how are new cars going to people with little seniority? I thought we were using the trickle down of cars by seniority getting theirs replaced and their car moving down to someone else.

Please dont worry about whose getting new cars. Ive been around since the days of sharing old beat up cars and never thought id see the day usfpd had a take home program. Sure new cars are nice but ive never had one and never will and have plenty seniority and rank and thats okay. My patrol car runs, has ac, gets me to and from work, and looks as respectable as other agencies' cars.

Obviously you have no idea about modern Campus Policing, This was a Strategic, Global, Green, Inclusive, Environmently Safe, Non Biased, Non Toxic, Eco Friendly, decision that was made with careful thought and planning. Our Command staff had to overcome some serious logistical issues before putting the 2016 Sprinkle the Fleet Inititive in play.

Faculty, Staff, Students, international students, Parents, Vendors along with various Student Organizations were gathered to obtain a baseline reading due to the wide diversity of our Comminity. Pictures of our entire vehicle fleet, including bikes, golf carts, Patrol Cars, (marked and unmarked) 4x4's, Humvee, the Boat, Motor Cycle and the TRT Truck were shown to the participants.

Almost immeadiatly the use of the TRT Truck, Humvee and interestingly enough, the Logistics unmarked van, caused some of the participants to react in a negative way. Victims Advocate and medical staff quickly provided care for those upset by these images and almost all of the participants were able to continue in the study the next day.

By the end of the week the group submitted a list of the most popular USFPD modes of transportation that could represent the Department in the 2016 Sprinkle the Fleet Program. They are listed below in order of votes received -

    1. Police Bike

    2. The Boat Trailer

    3. An old pair of Bates Police Boots (submitted by Students for a Fossil Fuel Free Earth Movement)

    4. A Police Patrol Vehicle

    5. Police Motor Cycle with cover attached

Command staff took these recommendations into consideration. Using a large Campus map overlay and various paper cutouts of the selected transportation modes, a Table Top exercise of the deployment was conducted over 3 semi consecutive Thursday afternoons. The Chiefs conference room was converted into a sort of WAR ROOM, it's door securely closed while the discussions continued.

At no time were Police Services compromised during these planning sessions. Although every single member of our Command staff was focused on this very important task and unavailable for advice, guidance and overall Supervision. Patrol went on without interruption.

Finally, Command Staff emerged from the Conference Room, proudly armed with a 23 page Incident Action Plan for the 2016 Sprinkle the Fleet Program. This plan was quickly approved by University leadership and immeadiatly put into action.

Due to our very diverse Community, Citizens from around the world will see our crime prevention efforts through our Sprinkle the Fleet program. You may have already noticed people looking at our strategically placed Patrol Vehicles who are unaware that they are looking at the results of hundreds of hours of Community input and Police Exectutive planning. They are mostly unaware that before them is not a vehicle that broke down and is waiting for a tow truck or has inconveniently taken a very good parking space, but a tool, a carefully conceived tool of Public Safety, a Silent Sentinel standing as a message to all We are here, we are watching and you are safe
