Who cares, this whole thread sucks balls. Who is going to ever want to work in this ****ed up city where you have to wait 15 years or longer to get a small portion of the weekend off, and never get vacation time approved. We just lost another officer this week to go back to be a pilot . He knows how shitty this place is going to be soon with this cop hater in charge. Dont come here the city has zero integrity now. This is no longer a professional career .......... this is just a job now , nothing more. Others will leave soon, ones with experience kept the city out of trouble.

We are reaching rock bottom with a Chief who is nothing more than a puppet for a Mayor who hates police officers. That tells you all you need to know about this place. POS Chief & Scumbag Corrupt Mayor.

We just lost a senior officer to BSO. He took a pay cut up front to get out. That is bad, makes whole city look like shit.

It's not bad, it's a bunch sour pusses that don't know what it's like to work in a really bad agency. We've gone through some changes and some are having some difficulties adapting. Drinking on duty is now frown upon, sending racial and pornographic emails is not allowed, shooting at moving cars is a no-no. Other changes are a bit more ridiculous but you should know about them upfront, don't accept a taser apparently there is a quarter of an inch area that is now the only place you can taze someone. Don't put any passenger on an ATV, on that topic don't drive on the sand either. You must wear a baseball cap during all special events. I tell you about other changes as I remember.

Great Department with a very out of touch Chief, a ghost Assistant Chief, a Narcissistic Mayor and a ***** City Manager. Good guy but no balls. The Taser policy is a joke. Might as well not have one.

But at the end it's about making money and doing absolutely nothing. If you concentrate on that you will have a stellar career.

Where do I turn in my Taser?

I have to agree police work as we know it is over in this place. Just make your money and stay out of the way. Just take a look at what we have in store for us.
    1. A mayor that hates the police and has bought a sellout Police Chief to lead us.
    2. A mayor who has paid for a corrupt city commission (Yes you Grico and others)
    3. A city working hard to screw us on the contract and take our pension benefits we have earned. And our defense to that our FOP Union that has screwed us in the past contracts. Alex your still a snake scum bag POS.
    4. An out of touch Chief who just makes up the rules as he goes along, But in some cases the rules apply to some and not others. For example: An old case is opened on one person for improper internet use and he is fired and destroyed in the media. However the grand theft of time and a scheme to defraud the city is over looked and the Chief closes the case with not one person being disciplined.
    5. A certain Command Staff member points fingers about drinking when hell we all know that he was the main ring leader in the festivities.
And the list goes on, So you want to be a Police Officer go apply at a real police department we are not one any longer. We have a ton of great cops and great people but a crappy structure supporting us.

We spend so much of our income in miami beach because the only way to make a decent living is to live here at work 65+ hours a week. It is a catch 22. It is good we spend so much money in miami beach as it supports our community. But our lives suffer because we are here 24/7. So you may think you make okay money, but ask yourself just how long were you working your ass off to have that perception. ??? This job kills your body slowly, no gym can help me from that. Even eating great only slows down our cardiac deaths and cancers.

We make incredible money compared to the national average. We make incredible money compared to other police departments that work truly tough neighborhoods. Unless you live in Miami Beach, please explain. How you spend "so much income" there? Also, tell me about this 24/7 work schedule, I was one of the people in one of those salary articles way back and I don't remember being there 24/7! If you don't live like a millionaire then you will do just fine on the salary, holiday pay and a bit of court time.

When your feeling really down in the dumps about your government job and the 100K you make, take a look at an ARMY PVT, Corp., or Sergeant and what they earn for a TRULY dangerous VOLUNTEER job. Get over yourself! Go cry to your 33!
