Disgraceful behavior by prison security guards
The DOC’s Inspector General’s Office first looked into the claims, after receiving a tip that Okaloosa Correctional officer Tracy Mobley had received MoneyGrams from an inmate’s fiancé in exchange for allegedly smuggling contraband into the correctional facility. DOC officials say when they later questioned her, Mobley confessed. And, DOC spokesman McKinley Lewis says Secretary Julie Jones doesn’t tolerate this type of behavior.
“The department has a zero-tolerance policy for any misconduct by our officers, whether that’s retaliation against other officers or inmates, or general misconduct that violates department policy or Florida state law. Again, we are working to pretty aggressively identify who do engage in misconduct,” said Lewis.
Mobley’s Wednesday arrest comes on the heels of two other arrests this week of Suwannee correctional officers charged with battering two inmates and lying about it.

The Florida Department of Corrections reports that Correctional Officers Kiree Twiggs and Jo Ann Lopez were arrested Wednesday and charged with battery and falsifying official records. The department is also firing them from their positions at Suwannee Correctional Institution near Live Oak.
The Department issued a news release saying Lopez applied chemical agents without provocation to two inmates during a counseling session in June. The release says Twiggs then slammed both inmates on the ground without justification. Investigators say both officers later submitted falsified official documents in an attempt to justify their improper use of force.
It wasn't immediately known if either officer had an attorney.
