Gotta give Chief Charlie credit for bringing back morale to our department. He inherented the political hiring/promotions of Durkin and Diaz. That being said, hopefully he realizes these two were “connected” and rules/general orders were changed for their hiring/advancements, I’m sure Chief Charlie would not approve of how they obtained their positions. If Chief Charlie had all the facts upon being hired as Chief of Police at Tampa Intl Airport Police Department it’s most likely these officers would not have been hired, never mind promoted!

You really need help. There is no requirement to "announce an opening" for a police chief spot.

A chief position is by it's very nature, a political position. So, year, it was politics.....not that you have a clue what Chicago politics is all about.
