No step plan but enjoy your new pursuit driving range
http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/...730-story.html
There is nothing wrong with the current driving range at the academy. We don't' have a step plan, yet the department wants a new $2.8 million dollar pursuit driving range.

Our pursuit policy (17.05) isn't the problem. Most agencies can only pursue for forcible felonies. We are allowed to pursue motor vehicles for reckless, DUI, and any felony.
The problem is some supervisors tell their subordinates not to pursue because they do not want to do a pursuit report. Also, the management scrutinizes a pursuit to the point where many good pursuits end with discipline (based upon my observations) due to minor violations (front push bumper protrudes past the stop bar even though the trooper came to a complete stop).
It has gotten so bad the instructors at the academy recommend to the recruits not to pursue. So why do we need a 2.8 million dollar driving range? The answer is we don't. The agency, PBA, and FAST's only agenda this session should be a step plan and nothing more.
