Dec 2017 app here,waiting for a sign of life from my BI since aug 2018.almost 6 months without anything.Waiting for my file to get approved by a chain of command (?) or waiting for word of completion of my background i guess.Have to take psych and medical.

Well,i guess im not the only dec 17 appl who did not hear back yet from his BI.

Been almost 5 months without any word,had to re apply in August 2018 for "budget purposes".

Dont even know if my Background check been completed or have to wait til a chain of command approves it.Have no clue what the status is either smh

Border patrol background is definitely not faster since you apply for a federal position which means you need security clearance and THAT alone can take a minimum of 1 year or more (you can read that on the border patrol official website aswell)

Now,MDSP is a different story.I went on the leo forums for the MDSP myself and from what i read from actual officers there is that this place is anything but fruitful workwise.

They get little respect from other agencies and school resource officers feel like they are more "school security" than law enforcement.

Also i was reading that their pay is rather average (i think 40k/year ?) compared to other agencies.You will be walking around HS property or sit in a cubicle most of your shifts or attend any HS events.Nothing wrong with that if you like protecting the youth and want to make the schools safer.

If you have the degree go federal. If you dont have a degree stay local or self sponsor and apply all over the state until you can later transfer. My buddy self sponsor and just got hired with a sheriff agency in Jacksonville and he is very happy for now. Be willing to relocate if not you will be either waiting for ever or be passed by someone who is well influenced.
